A lot of people were itching to move Rakell before the season and talked about what kind of sweetener they'd have to add to make it happen. Now people are talking about a 1st rounder not being enough of a return.

Time is an asset. Things can change in a year. We're in no rush.

Jarry could conceivably get worse....

Then...what's the rush to move Jarry? I still don't understand why that's a move that had to happen asap.

As I’ve said, I don’t want him in the organization. I don’t want him mentoring our prospects. I don’t want him taking starts away from them.

An AHL coach wants and needs to win. They’re not going to bench a guy who would likely be the top goalie in the league and has extensive NHL experience so a prospect can develop. We’re seeing it already down there. Of course they will play him if he’s there and give him the bulk of the load.

I think this is different. Would be really surprised if he plays another game in PIT, and you can’t keep him in the AHL for the duration of his contract bc he’s clogging it up for other prospects.

Buyout feels likely.

I guess we just see things differently.

I think spending money to get rid of a player, before we have any use for the cap space, who's never shown toxic behaviour, is a poor use of resources.

They don't need to bench Jarry. He could easily split starts with Murashov - who's already put up better AHL numbers than Jarry - and I don't see how that would be detrimental to his development in the least.

By worse, i mean poisoning the young developing players in WBS with a negative and toxic attitude…

Its a question of buy him out now or later. Now is better…
One would think that if Jarry had any aspirations for playing in the league again, he would be fully aware that he needs to elevate his game, and maintain a positive attitude. Word would almost certainly get around the league quickly if he had a sour attitude, and that started to affect his teammates. Additionally, if he does indeed crap the bed, there would be one less year on his contract to factor into a buyout. And that's not to say that I don't see the point you make. I just believe the potential benefits far outweigh the supposed risk.

Doubt the Pens buy him out. No desire to have him on the cap for 6 years. Trade him for another terrible contract or sit him in the AHL.

I am sure he is thrilled to be in the AHL while struggling to accept his NHL career is over.
NHLers face a lot of adverse circumstances. Believe it or not, some handle it like professionals.

And unless you can show some evidence to the contrary, there's nothing to suggest Jarry isn't doing exactly that.
