I'd have taken ANY AHL call up, any NCAA guy, walk on, whatever. Someone who you don't know and maybe strikes gold. This is the demon you DO know, and you know he sucks and is going to be injured for half this deal and making excuses for the other half.
This move is NOTHING else than Sullivan bullshitting his way into job insurance for the guaranteed 'if we only had a healthy goalie' missed playoffs/first round exit we will keep running into (see his media excuses for the last 5 years straight).

Yup, this was a terrible move. They just threw away the last years of this core on an oft-injured, mentally weak guy who, when the going gets tough, is likelier to throw a game away rather than steal one.

Oh yeah, this reeks of Sullivan's stamp, and not necessarily Dubas. FSG from all reports, are in love with Sullivan (he's wicked smaught.). And Sullivan LOVES Jarry. So I am not surprised we signed him. I am a bit surprised by the term and average. Can't believe we couldn't have got him for less.

Absolute stupid ass signing and way to end the era. Genuinely indefensible.
So instead lock down one who hasn't stolen a single NHL game, is hurt more than Matt Murray, and absolutely plays like a backup when he IS healthy. This isn't a gamble it's suicide by stupidity in the front office.

Jarry has a .915 save% in his last 4 years and his lowest save% in a season was .909. Does he have his issues? Yeah, of course he does. But the reality is that he was the best goalie option available that didn't involve a trade, and you can't force another team to trade Hellebuyck or Ullmark to you.
He's paid effectively the same as Darcy Kuemper while being about that caliber of goalie. What did people expect Jarry would go for in UFA?
I think Jarry negotiated this contract with Dubas using the Dany Heatley strategy. He told Dubas, "I'm a ******* ALL STAR!"

Samsonov was actually one of Dubas's best moves. But then there was Matt Murray and that had to be a great day for Ottawa's GM, probably couldn't stop laughing on the other end of the call. Anyway, that's Dubas for you. More style than substance.
