He's produced pretty well, but Sullivan doesn't cotton to depth guys that don't PK.
What is a depth guy that doesn't PK? An AHLer who gets scored on a lot while trying to make it to the tiktok front page? I guess that does describe Puljujarvi doesn't it

Oilers need to claim Jesse and trade for taylor hall. Kick j skinner to the curb. Lure Yak back from the K.

Only once the prodigal sons have returned, will Edmonton raise another championship banner.

He actually has had, off-and-on, very strong playdriving results at times in his career. He'll use his speed and range to push play into the right area of the ice, which is always a nice thing to have from a bottom sixer, even if they don't score much individually.

I think the player has been underappreciated.

But he's also repeatedly nose dived into bad numbers too. All of which supports the theory that his hip repair surgeries only buy him a bit of time before they fall apart again.

I'm not sure if that's what happened this time? By the numbers JP was still getting good play driving results up until a few games ago. He's sitting on 52% xG right now, right behind Crosby.

Gets scored on a lot? He has some of the lowest goals against rates on the Pens. People just like to hate.

The Oilers have so many worse players than JP.

I wouldn't see the harm in giving him a shot.
You can say that about anyone. My issue is he does not process NHL game speed. It's not a lack of IQ. He didn't forget how to score buckets of goals. Other guys just know what JP is gonna do before he does it and JP just plays like he is stumped like "Well damn. I tried everything"

But how did the Bison Whisperer himself, Sebastian Aho not save his career?

He is, after all, the only person that knows how to play with Bison King. Not McDavid of course, he’s trash. Not Draisaitl of course, dude has no vision. It’s only Bison Whisperer Sebastian Aho that has the magic touch cause he’s so elite.
I was on team JP from the start and defended him. I'm done.lol he's a fantastic human with a great smile and a very big strong body. As a hockey player, he's just not the brightest.

I was even the guy pointing out the fancy stats when he wasn't gettting actual points.

If he had learned to be a PKer he'd be an elite bottom 6 guy. Hope my OIl aren't consdiering it. Hope he does continue in NHL though.. I really do like him.
I wonder how much his lack of language skills held him back early in his career when he came over. Probably couldn't understand anything the coaches wanted him to do. He should have just hired a tutor and focused on English skills as much as any other forms of training.

still could be an upgrade over Atkinson as a 13th forward. Bigger, faster and younger.

Unfortunately he is kinda stupid, on and off the ice.
But he is a really nice person, unfortunately on the ice, too.
If he was a little smarter, he would at least use his body.
It was not the smartest idea to drop out of school to concentrate on hockey before he learned some English.
Fun fact: born in Sweden, grown up in Finland, playing in North America but yet he doesn‘t speak any of those languages properly.
I think Montréal (and another language he cannot speak) would either melt his brain or just tighten the correct screws…but the Habs should stay away from him.

His Finnish is just fine?

He should have. That would have been nice. Apparently communication with this team was not a priority for him and his dumbass agent, Markus Lehto

He didn't get scored on a lot though. Or anyway 3.0 ES goals against /60 is among the lowest in Pittsburgh.

He was doing fine. Sullivan just doesn't like anyone that doesn't play the north american meat and potatoes style. He grudgingly puts up with Malkin since he's an all time great.

This isn't going to move the needle one way or another for Pittsburgh so it's whatever, but he was definitely not the worst player on the roster.
