I thought he looked good. Not a huge deal if your coach doesn’t like a bottom 6 player. He did have the 7th highest points per 60 on the Pens, but he hasn’t played much, especially over the last month.

He was legitimately playing well in the games the he actually played in. Effort wasn't an issue, he was being physical, was creating chances, and was one of the faster players on the roster.

The only real negative was he doesn't penalty kill, and not teaching him to do so is a mistake given his mobility and reach.

He has looked better than most of the bottom sixers on the team. But, Sullivan is notorious for burying certain players over something minor while allowing other players to stay in the line up regardless of their mistakes. (See grzlyk, O'Connor, nieto and previously mcginn and Harkins)

Nieto is an empty jersey, beauviller (other than last night) has been an empty jersey, o'connor (sadly) has been an empty jersey.

But these guys, especially nieto and O'Connor, are Sullivan's boys. Boring white bread ham and eggers just like Sullivan. They are a hockey equivalent of a cup of black Dunkin donuts coffee. It ain't good but it gets the job done.

I hope Jesse gets picked up and plays well somewhere else.

Puljujarvi doesn't play the game the same way Mike Sullivan did, so Mike Sullivan has no time for his schtick.

It's stupid because he's been outright better than the vast majority of the guys Sully loves every game he plays. Every single mistake results in a scratching. Nobody is going to thrive in a situation like that.

It's not some gross injustice or anything, but he brings more to the table than shit like Nieto & Acciari.

Basically this move is what he did here. Try to find "value" and sign reclamation projects who most of the time just did cardio and ended up waived or worse needing to pay to offload them. And they never bring anything outside of two way play and some small amount of scoring.

...Why? How? Every forward is healthy, he's not beating the coach's 12th forward (Emil Heineman) out of a spot.

FTR there is no way Heineman actually plays like a 12th forward, but he's basically deployed like it, and every other player he could sensibly replace (Armia, Anderson) has PK duties, or is Brandon Gallagher, who won't be scratched.

I mean, unless they have a deal lined up for Armia and don't want to call up RHP, but that's absolutely not the premise of the statement.
