Great discussion on Sports Hub this afternoon: Did witnessing the Eagles dominate KC at the line change your opinion of what the Pats draft strategy should be? Last year we had some fans here clamoring for Marvin Harrison Jr at 3rd overall. Mock drafts have the Pats taking Travis Hunter at 4.
IF Abdul Carter is available at 4 I think he’s your guy. He’s projected to go to Cleveland at 2. Do the Pats draft Will Campbell? Mason Graham? I avoid taking Hunter. O-line or D-line has to be the play. You can sign a WR in free agency.
Thoughts?
I was very high on Kelvin Banks at LT for a good while, but I was unimpressed with him in the playoff. I like Will Campbell a lot, and I think the Patriots should draft him or Banks if Carter isn’t available at 4. That offensive line needs a lot of work and a wide receiver won’t help the Patriots if the QB is getting blindsided all day.
Hopefully, a QUALITY receiver can be added through free agency or later in the draft.
That’s my two cents.
If you draft Hunter, what are you drafting him as? CB or WR? He's not gonna play both positions consistently......not in the NFL. So which is it?If Travis Hunter is there, you have to take him. He's a generational talent. If we pass on him, I'll be severely disappointed.
It's Carter or Hunter for me. If they both aren't there? Mason Graham or Will Cambell. But that's my order.

I don't see Carter falling to #4, but stranger things have happened.
I honestly think that if Carter isn't there at 4, the best move for NE is to try to trade down...
I think folks are buying into the hype of Hunter playing both positions. Not in the NFL. I’m not sure I use the 4th overall on a CB. Does he really project to be an elite WR in the NFL?If you draft Hunter, what are you drafting him as? CB or WR? He's not gonna play both positions consistently......not in the NFL. So which is it?

I think if Carter is gone and Hunter still there at #4 the Pats are taking him.Great discussion on Sports Hub this afternoon: Did witnessing the Eagles dominate KC at the line change your opinion of what the Pats draft strategy should be? I really hate the idea of drafting Hunter. Most think he is a better CB than WR and the Patriots have so many needs above CB. Who was the last guy to play significant snaps on both sides of the ball, let alone any thing coming close to full time duty? It just doesn't happen. The biggest adjustment for Hunter is going to be the speed and physicality of the NFL, paired with the length of the season. I think you are asking for trouble or for him to get hurt quickly if you draft this kid and put him on both sides of the ball.I think that’s exactly what I’d like
I honestly think Hunter is both the #1 WR and #1 CB in the draft.
We just need two teams to buy into these QBs
It's so hard to commit to anyone right now. What a bad draft to be picking 4th overall - All the best guys have minor red flags. I don't think they can go wrong with any of these guys, but we'll learn more at the combine. Ideally, I'd want them to trade down to the 7-10 range and pick up _anything_ to help fill more holes. I don't really see a huge gap between a lot of the guys in the top 10. Not a top end draft, but it's really deep.if its CB get dude Michigan
Carter him or Campbell
Not big on Hunter
First Round selections get all the attention, but teams are made in Rounds 2-5.I want Tet. You have to draft stud WRs they are just problems when you get them via trade. He's too big and strong to bust.

Hunter is definitely a tremendous athlete, but even looking at his body type, he's not exactly built like DK Metcalf. Maybe I would be a bit more onboard if he was a brick shithouse like Metcalf but I don't think he will hold up. My guess is he will probably make a business decision and end up as a full time WR. There's more money at that position, even if he isn't as good a WR as CB, plus he can have a longer career. It's so hard to commit to anyone right now. - Will Johnson CB - Coming off an injury & questions about his speed for the NFL
- His speed will be the biggest focus during the combine / pro day
- Abdul Carter EDGE - Absolute monster on the pass rush, but questions about run defense
- Pure pass rush is worth the run defense concerns
- Mason Graham DI - Not the biggest area of need
- No real concerns with him
- Travis Hunter CB / WR - Completely agree with @DangleCity on his analysis
- Great athlete - not sold on anyone being a 2-way player in the NFL
- Will Campbell OL - Not a LT in the NFL
- Real concerns about arm length & they can't afford to draft OG at 4OA
- Combine & pro day will be huge for him
He on one corner and Gonzalez on other allows you to send 5 if neededI believe Hunter is going to the combine as a CB, kind of surprised he isn't chasing WR money.
He on one corner and Gonzalez on other allows you to send 5 if needed
Reminds me of Raiders in 80’s with Lester Hayes & Mike Haynes (Patriots trading him insane) playing man to man and killing the opposing passing game
Here is my game plan for them
Sign FA
Tee Higgins
Ronnie Stanley OT
If they get Stanley I draft
Mason Graham DT
Round 2 (May have to jump into late first)
Josh Conerly OT Oregon
Gunner Helm TE Texas
Tre Henderson RB Ohio State
Higgins gone go after
Chris Godwin
Cooper Kupp
Inquire about getting Jakobi Myers back
Having Gonzales and Hunter both as top tier CBs is great in theory, but it's not how they should be constructing there team. Your also talking about paying both these guys around a total of $60 million combined a year when there rookie deals are up in a couple years. Just not a good way to allocate resources. He on one corner and Gonzalez on other allows you to send 5 if needed

Id also argue that pass rush is just as important if not more important than pass coverages. Starting in the 2003 AFCCG l, every year that has gone by the NFL madw it harder and harder to play pass coverage and tilts the game more towards the QB, WRs and Offense. The only effective way to combat that is with a good pass rush
