It's called staff. That's why they have them. They don't hire/fire/ create new positions to accommodate every player they draft.
Martin Marancin was a decent dman. Great gap control. His only fault was he's a beanpole. The Oilers asked him to beef up for years. He never did.
So while players like Bouchard, McD and Drai are cutting their summers short to focus on shooting and skating that they were instructed to do....you think it was the Oilers responsibility to hire a personal trainer to go to Marancins house and force him to powerlift?
So no, it's not in the organizations "self interest" to pamper every lazy player. That's not how this works. It's called the real world
