Pretty obvious he said something to Sullivan that sully didn’t like.

nah he just isn’t a us born player or someone who played in the ncaa

Pens bottom 6

Doc - us born ncaa
Hayes - us born ncaa
Accari - us born ncaa
Nieto - us born ncaa
Lizotte - us born ncaa

Thomasino and Glass barely make it by.

Once Dubas trades for kreider, thomasino will be waived

I was under the impression that he was a solid bottom sixer. Little surprised he wasn't picked up at all.
He is a solid bottom 6er. Unfortunately, he also had double hip surgery not that long ago (in terms of recovery time for such a huge surgery). I can see why teams wouldn't want to have to commit to keeping him up for that reason.

I'm a bit surprised. Lots of worse bottom 6ers out there.

Shouldn't team take a chance on him with the hopes that he recovers as time passes?

I still wonder why someone hasn't tried him on a line with another, hopely well established Finnish forward. If the language is a great issue, maybe see what he can do with other Finns, and then work on language guidance etc bla bla if that is the way. Maybe 5 years late for that, but with the amount of Finns in the league seems weird.
They already tried him with Aho and he failed.

Nobody said he can’t PK. He hasn’t gotten the opportunity here. I think he’d be just fine as a PKer.
Lol “oppurtunity” to be a PKer.

The dude never wanted that oppurtunity. Him and his agent have been on the top 6 or bust train for years.

When it was apparent in Edmonton this dude doesn’t have the IQ or skills to be in the top 6.

He had a chance to change his game, accept a grinder role, which he would actually be good at. But instead travelled around the league looking for top 6 opportunity no NHL coach was willing to give him. Wasting his damn time and career in the process.

That reasoning makes no sense. He’s healthy now. He was healthy when the Pens season started. He already had successful Hip surgery. A $1M player with no term is no risk at all. The simple fact is, teams don’t like him or his agents meddling.

I think the reason he doesn't ever really get much look as a PKer are the reasons he's not very good at all defensively at even strength either. Some of them being things that will drive a coach batty.

He can skate fast in a straight line or with a big loop to wind up...but his change of direction and stop/start agility is very poor. He also just does not read the play and anticipate or see the ice well...at all. His positioning drifts and ranges from imprecise to improvised because i'm not sure he actually sees the lanes. Despite his reach, his stick placement is sloppy to non-existent. And those are more or less the core things you need to be an effective PKer so... :dunno:

If he hasn't honed these sort of details at this point, we're well into the "he is what he is" portion of the career.

Everyone can say what they want about him, but he’s pretty vanilla and doesn’t produce much. Not surprised that he cleared. If he were drafted in the fifth round, this topic would have 8 responses and nobody would care.

There is one thing that amuses me not only about Pizza boy but the top picks from the 2016 draft. Even after matthews--the top picks were hyped.

Auston Matthews
Patrik Laine
Pierre-Luc Dubois
Jesse Puljujarvi
Olli Juolevi
Matthew Tkachuk
Clayton Keller
Alex Nylander
Mikhail Sergachev
Tyson Jost

Only Matthews and Keller are with the same team that drafted them. Both Laine and Dublois were more or less given away this off season. I remember when the BJS passed on Puiljujarvi and people thought they were nuts. Turns out they knew what they were doing. On the oiler board most of us wanted Tkachuk--but the momeht JP dropped to us--we wanted him
