OT: Pirates Talk: Lets Play Ball

I admit I'm not in the know with baseball's revenue shares and such but would something work where teams are rewarded for winning, such as the more wins you get the more revenue share you receive?
No that would not work for any sport. In baseball they already share close to 50 percent of tickets and local tv deals. So baseball is extremely regional. The issue is no salary cap or floor like other sports. The NBA killed the super teams and provided incentives for homegrown players to sign with their drafted teams. Hockey you can offer an extra year but every is playing in the same cap bracket

Reynolds extended at over 100M and sucks. Hayes sucks. Keller is the best of the bunch of guys we paid actual money and he's a mid rotation arm.

This is just a clown org. at every level.

Majority of the team sucks.

Outside of Reynolds, Skenes and McCutchen I have zero care for the rest of them.

In 80 to 90% of games the Pirates only scored runs in one or two innings. It's obscene.

This game was easily winnable once again with any semblance of normal defense.

Then why pay 100M for a DH?

Again, asset management is a f***ing F, along with every other aspect of this franchise.

When you have an owner that almost never hands out extensions, you'd better hit on the ones you do. And we don't.
The bulk of teams are handing out extensions for guys who will finish out careers as DH. If he just plays 1st like Harper fine. Devers Vlad both got extensions with DH in mind
The issue is lack of spending

The Pirates are completely inept offensively. They've developed some pitchers, found some real gems in FA, but their ability to grow hitters internally is as big an F grade as you can give a franchise.

Davis is well on his way to being a monumentally bad bust as a 1 overall. When you're as cheap as the Pirates, you can't afford to miss on that kind of pick. Even if the guy doesn't turn out to be a star, you need an above average league player and HD is just completely overmatched at the ML level.

I'm not ready to write off Davis as a bust yet.

If/when they get a new GM and manager, I'd like to see how he responds.

Davis' MLB struggles alone should have been enough to get, at the very least, a new manager.

Well, I did say "on his way".

The problem with Davis is mental from reputable people in the know. Combine being a dick with a lack of willingness to adapt to coaching.

And I was, along with a lot of other folks, very happy when we took him as an under slot guy. It made sense, and his floor seemed fairly high. But that's baseball, and again, the Pirates inability to develop competent offensive talent is a glaring issue.
