Pierre Luc Dubois - What's the allure?

some teams love babies that whine when they dont get their way. thats just how it is

8 year contracts don't seem to be given out to anything other than franchise cornerstone pieces. And 8.5M is no small cap hit.
There are similar contracts of players who arent franchise cornerstone players either. No its not a small cap hit because he is a big, skilled, fast, two-way, 60 points player.

Again one million less would be better but you overreact.

He gets traded for a lot. Has a monster contract. Is he really that good? I don't see it. He's 6'3", so I get that part. A few 60 point seasons. Certainly good, but nothing elite. Am I missing something?

He actually wasn't traded for "a lot" from a quality perspective.

It's PLD vs Vilardi. Iafallo is a fine player, but there's a lot of similar players like him. Kupari is Kupari.

When the trade was made, I didn't like it purely from the standpoint of losing Vilardi. Having watched PLD so far, a lot of the critcisms are warranted. Certainly looks disinterested at times, but he's got some serious talent as well. I've warmed up to him a bit more. Right now though, I'd still prefer Vilardi.

He's got size and skill. Also seems to be a nice kid.

My total speculation is that he doesn't love hockey. I think it's something he has been doing all his life and he sees it as a way to make a lot of money. But I think his rationale is if he's going to do something he doesn't love, he is going to at least do it while living somewhere with lots of distractions.

His playoffs vs Toronto when Torts was hounding him was elite. And you can see glimpses of it like game one of the Jets series last Spring. He can dominate. The allure should be obvious, the Kings want a dominant big man in the playoffs. The question is whether he'll do it often enough.

Can be the best player on the team when he decides to do that. Can be the worst player on the team he decides to do that.

He's rarely the worst, more mid lineup when he's not motivated. But it is frustrating knowing what he is capable of.

He's got dreamy eyes

Was he traded for a lot? None of the players are anything special that went the other way and a 2nd rnd pick.

I’m assuming he meant the # of times he’s been traded, and not the # of assets/players he’s been traded for in return.

I made the case at the time that LA was "dumping" contracts on WINN to be able to pay PLD the contract. If you look at what established players were going for at the time - they were moved for essentially little to nothing (Hayes, Johanson, Reilly, etc.). Doesn't mean it's a bad trade - just that you shouldn't look at the deal without that context.

He doesn’t seem like a nice person to me at all.

I like the Gratton comp, hes here to cash his cheques and do a job, a job that hes decent at, not going out of his way to grow your business, not going to work OT, its 5 p.m. and hes out in the Cali sun. You can live with that as a 2C. I would not consider a guy like that CORE though.

in a league where half the teams have shit and no scoring on their bottom six.
It gives the King deoth. Allows them to move Denaukt to third line center. ......you really don't see the value in a Center like Dubois??
Kings know to win a Cup they need to beat out Oilers , Aves, and Knights. If I'm Kings fan I'm giving the acquisition of Dubois a standing ovation.
