Gotta feel for Danault. The guy signed in LA to be a #2 C with PP time and now he’s going to be behind Kopitar, PLD and maybe even Byfield soon.
We tried him at center and it just didn't work.Does Vilardi play much center? Surprised that Winnipeg wouldn't target getting a full-time center back.
Just a Wal-Mart brand version of Ryder Halak and a 2ndThose garbage offers were going on since last offseason.
The “for free” and ”Dvorak, Kidney and Florida 1st” will forever be a meme on these forums.
As a Sharks fan I wish Rob Blake was deluded enough to think he can build a long term Cup contender around Byfield, Vilardi, Kaliyev, Kupari, Clarke etc. I would keep Byfield and Clarke unless a true superstar was on the table but everyone else should be seen as a trade asset. You sure did kick a hornets nest. Been saying this for some time. There's a couple of King's fans that are ok with the idea, but most are dead set against it. PLD makes so much sense.
Incorrect. Blake told him his role when he signed. He even mentioned in his interview post signing that he's aware he'd mentor the younger guys as the contract goes on.Gotta feel for Danault. The guy signed in LA to be a #2 C with PP time and now he’s going to be behind Kopitar, PLD and maybe even Byfield soon.
The Kings aren't doing this trade without a long term extension in placeWill it? He can still sign there if he doesn’t sign an extension
The offer is still on the table if you want! Those garbage offers were going on since last offseason.

Immediately following confirmation of the trade. At this point, the trade will be worth it for the meltdown on the King's board alone.
PLD from King's to MTL threads by Canadian Thanksgiving?
Feel free to come back to me when he actually goes through a season without a significant injury. Happy to look at his performance in next offseason.PPG the last two years when healthy. More like a mid-30's goal scorer when pro-rated.
Garbage offers were smart offers from the Habs. Offering anything of significant and then having to overpay PLD would have been a travesty. Those garbage offers were going on since last offseason.

He literally stated one of the key reasons he wanted to test free agency was because he didn't see himself as a third line center.Incorrect. Blake told him his role when he signed. He even mentioned in his interview post signing that he's aware he'd mentor the younger guys as the contract goes on.
Quinton Byfield is a LW and hasn't been used as a center all season.
1) You've confused LA and Anaheim.Does this change LA's thinking at #2?
Swap with Columbus for a pick and take Carlsson, picking up #34 as compensation?
Go back and watch his zoom call post signing. He knew what he signed up for.He literally stated one of the key reasons he wanted to test free agency was because he didn't see himself as a third line center.
His fate was sealed once LA brought Bergevin on boardGotta feel for Danault. The guy signed in LA to be a #2 C with PP time and now he’s going to be behind Kopitar, PLD and maybe even Byfield soon.
a third overall that never amounted to much and signed an offer sheet...that was not a trade. You could say that all teams that lose free agents didn't do very well with the ROI.Well, you turned a third overall into cap dump and no second round pick 2024, so cant say you did much better....
We tried him at center and it just didn't work.
He's a 2nd line RW'er.
LW | C | RW |
Connor | ??? | Ehlers |
Perfetti | ??? | Niederreiter |
Iafollo | Lowry | Vilardi |
Barron | Gustafsson | Appleton |
Oh, Vilardi’s progression now suddenly stopped?
BTW, Laine the “elite goalscorer” is signed at $8.7M AAV and now averages 20 goals/season with Columbus.
The funny part is that PLD will be getting a similar deal while scoring less.PPG the last two years when healthy. More like a mid-30's goal scorer when pro-rated.
He has another chance at winning a Cup that trumps playing time for anyone that already has the bag securedGotta feel for Danault. The guy signed in LA to be a #2 C with PP time and now he’s going to be behind Kopitar, PLD and maybe even Byfield soon.
Eesh, i thought Vilardi was a C?Thanks. Still not sure what Winnipeg's plans at center would be if this deal comes together as reported:
LW C RW Connor ??? Ehlers Perfetti ??? Niederreiter Iafollo Lowry Vilardi Barron Gustafsson Appleton
What’s this.. logic and sound thinking..,are you new to HF?As a Sharks fan I wish Rob Blake was deluded enough to think he can build a long term Cup contender around Byfield, Vilardi, Kaliyev, Kupari, Clarke etc. I would keep Byfield and Clarke unless a true superstar was on the table but everyone else should be seen as a trade asset.
Fans don't seem to understand that the point of a rebuild isn't necessarily to build your team through the draft. It's to accumulate pick and prospect capital that you can use as cash in hand to acquire established impact players. LA was patient in building up their war chest and are now parlaying their surplus of young centers and right shot defensemen into proven stars like Fiala and Dubois who they can lock up through their prime years at a fair price. Not too different from what Vegas has done.
