Pierre Luc Dubois explains for his poor performance in L.A.

Dubois would probably have trouble putting a square block to a square hole (without coaching), much more building something as difficult as a Lego car from the 90's.
Anze Kopitar once gave Pierre Luc Dubois a lego set as a welcome gift that was for 8+ year olds and Pierre told him "Why is this going to take me 8+ years to build?"

I wonder if the NHL and HC will ever get to the root of the issue (and the elephant in the room) regarding these kids. Something is really starting to stink in the QMJHL with so many talented kids flaking out at the NHL level.

My dude, your optimal style of hockey is literally just skate hard, hit people, and drive the net. It's not that complicated. You aren't that skilled. Just play hard-nosed hockey.

We all wished he did, God knows he has the tools for it but it has never happened.

In all the players I have seen, I have never seen one I so wished he would be coached by Mike Kennan than PLD. He would whip him into shape into being a true power forward. Other players should be scared even getting close to PLD. Just think Cam Neely. Drop em once in a while.

I am really curious how he will be playing in Washington.
I think Spencer Carbery could be the couch to get to him and push the right buttons.
Personally I wouldn't be shocked if PLD gets back to his usual 60 points plateau.

Still a big if but probably a risk worth taking for the Caps in their situation.

As for the Kings: this trade will be a black eye on their history no matter who is to blame for PLDs performance.
It's really sad, just imagine what they could have done instead of acquiring PLD

Not really a risk when the franchise's only reason for existing at this point - and I don't mean that in a dismissive sense but simply that this is their entire purpose and collective aim, the GM's mandate - is to ensure that Ovi breaks the league goal-scoring record. Bringing in talent like Dubois on the cheap to help them achieve a modicum of success in the regular season, delaying a complete tear-down rebuild, is worth it as one of the best methods to realize that aim.

The audacity of this clown. He sucked so bad that they had him on a “gold star” system and started praising him when he would do things right that didn’t included goals or assists. I never heard of any other prayer being coddled like that on the team. They held his hand every step of the way and he was just too dumb to get it.

I wonder how many games before Washington fans get on Dubois's case. He better not float like he did in LA.

It wouldn't surprise me if LA all of a sudden becomes a much better team this year because they got rid of him. Winnipeg became a much better team once they got rid of this loser.

In 17 years on HFboards i'm must say PLD is by far the most hated player i ever read about, you can clearly see the rage and anger about him it's kind of funny , make me laugh every time.

"I started to get nervous. Where will I live for the next 7 years of my life?"

Welcome to our world. Except most of us in what used to be the middle class are nervous, wondering if we get layed off due to AI replacing our jobs, where we will live because we won't have a roof over our heads any longer...and don't have the luxury of retirement in our 30s.

Must be rough..

I imagine that it'll take a lot longer for Caps fans to turn on him because they didn't really give up much for him. LA, on the other hand, gave up fan favorite Vilardi, so Kings fans soured on him as soon as they realized that he wasn't an upgrade.

FWIW, the Kings are undefeated in regulation since trading him (4-0-1, though only preseason, of course).

Well, one of them made sure to come to our board and tell us how dumb we were for giving him up since he scored a 5-on-3 tap-in in preseason, so maybe it'll be a while

But we were willing to give him 15-20 games to prove himself despite all the history so should be the same there

I didn't think I'd ever see as gutless a performance in a Kings sweater as Jeremy Roenick but PLD made him look like Bobby Clarke. Never seen such a f***ing on-ice loser, i didn't think it was possible he was remotely as bad as his reputation but 75% of his time with the kings was a replay of 'the shift'. And doubly frustrating not only because of the contract and trade tree but also because he's actually a very nice guy with immense raw talent that you WANT to root for but he just completely betrays you. Not only was he not productive; he was an out and out liability at all times but ESPECIALLY in any high leverage situation. Expect hat tricks vs. lottery teams and dashes vs. top 16 teams.

Once Washington gets into their first rut and finds that PLD is not part of the solution to get out of it, it's going to be clear that the problem wasn't Columbus, the problem wasn't Winnipeg, the problem wasn't LA, the problem wasn't coaching. The problem was, and always has been PLD's attitude. This is who he is, and he's not going to change.

I remember the hordes among my fellow Habs fans who wanted PLD in the weeks before he was traded to LA. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why they so ardently wanted him. We had just gone through the Drouin experiment and Dubois's reputation was already tarnished somewhat.

It's kinda funny this has happened twice in recent memory with a 'star' Quebec player, and both times, Bergevin was close to that action. I hope for Kings fans he won't be the one eventually replacing Blake.

If he does end-up GM though, I'll be watching his media appearances, as they are a treasure trove of meme opportunities. The Bergevin years were quite awful, but at least we laughed a lot.

Not sure about hated so much as you're at the State Fair and go to the game where you shoot balloons with a BB gun, and PLD is that balloon which is four times bigger than the rest. You just can't help yourself for taking a shot at it.

PLD is the definition of lazy player, but he has every attribute that people put together when building a center in their imagination. One of the last "If only he worked harder" players.
