How man guys with only one season out of four with more than 13 goals in a season and one over 30 points. Be honest when use stats..... :shakehead

He was on pace for 13 goals this past year and scored 13 and 21(only 67 gms) the previous 2 years. But that's without any PP time. At 5v5 his goal scoring has essentially been at a top 6 rate

He was 130th, 150th and 30th among forwards in 5v5 goals per time on ice in those last 3 years.

Raffl has been a solid goal scorer at 5v5 and drives possession at a high rate. He is definitely worth his mere 2.35 cap hit.

They have some solid forwards but they don't have any high end talent so that pushes everybody up above their capabilities. Although guys like Neal & Marchessault could be trade bait come the deadline.

Could PEB be the PK guy Hextall wants to make a lateral move for?

Part I: Pre-training camp Q&A with Flyers GM Ron Hextall

DI: I think even since you signed Folin you mentioned wanting to add another player, not a PK specialist, but someone who is pretty adept in that area. Is that still something you’re open to or are you going to ride with what you have now?

RH: I’m open to it, but it would probably be more of a lateral move on the market rather than a free agent. It would be a forward. We’d like to add a penalty-killing forward but to this point there’s been nothing there that’s made enough sense for us to move.

Dear lord the players on that list. What a pathetic expansion draft roster. They have 3 good players on that team in MAF, Sipyachov and Theodore, who I'm really high on.

Good thing they aced entry draft or they would be stuck in purgatory for years to come.

The irony is Laughton grades out as a solid PKer and would probably be better than whatever veteran intangibles goodness scrub they’d acquire.

If Laughton, Couturier, Patrick, Lindblom, Simmonds, Raffl, Giroux isn’t enough to form a good PKing forward unit, then it’s clearly not Lappy’s fault, so they need to figure out who to blame this year.

Also, this was a pretty unnecessary bump. Also also, I like the idea of Folin, the presumed no doubt about it #7, being able to help the PK. Uhhhh.

In the thread on the Trade board, I said as much in more words, but:

Yes, Lappy sucks. The bolded, however, are guys you don't want to be piling SH TOI on, let alone have blocking point shots on a regular basis. They've done it capably, out of necessity, at different points in their careers, it's just not a good strategy if it can be avoided. Only one of the remainder is a center, and while decent, you'd like to have a better first option.

Don't let our mutual hatred of members of the coaching staff absolve other problems. It's a theme here.

It's August, GM has to keep all his options open until he sees how players look in camp.
Actually, I'd be open to a MV for PEB type deal, trade an AHL marginal prospect for a one year depth fix.

I don't think Ron wants Giroux on the PK at all, and he'd probably want to reduce Couts' minutes and avoid making Patrick a top pair guy just so their minutes can be put to better use at even strength and 5x5, and avoid wearing them down over a 100 game season (I'm an optimist!). Simmonds is actually better on the PK than ES, and on the 3rd line, minutes aren't an issue. But Weal isn't a PK guy.

With Lindblom, speed would be my only concern, he's not really cut out for an aggressive PK, but he's smart and won't be out of position.
NAK to me is a good candidate for the PK, and one reason I could see Rubtsov or Twarynski being top candidates for promotions, Vorobyev might actually be hindered by being "too good," that is, Ron might prefer he play an offensive role in LHV to prepare if option "A" at 3C doesn't work out than play 8-10 minutes as a checker/PK guy in the NHL.

When it actually happens, you'll be glad that this Bellemare bump meant that it didn't come as a total shock. :thumbu:
