That was pretty much the clincher for me.
He spent the whole summer in Montreal. He’s from London, Ontario and he hasn’t played with the team forever. He hung out with some of the kids on the team. Shows a real good attitude. Definite points in his favor.

Poor Gallagher though, he sticked for the team when Subban was a "Cancer in the Locker room" then is not even named captain after they trade Pacioretty because Weber is there and now that Weber is gone he still wont be considered.
He should look in the mirror.

I love what Gallagher did for the team, but, unless a miracle happened in the offseason, he’s a couple of bruises away from sitting in the stand. You can’t have the captain in the stands, and you can’t have him on the ice only because he’s captain.

Cool story bro lol. But seriously we need a Captain who’s your pick?
How can I know?

Who knows Sukuki or Edmonston well enough ? Who knows the player in situation of pressure, stress in the locker room or on the plane? Who?

Remember the famous debate between Pacioretty et Subban?

Yes the players chose Max and apparently he was awful as captain

The fans and many medias wanted Pk.

Why? They thought they knew him....they did'nt.

I worked for the organization for 15 years and few times a year I had to interact with all the players one on one..and let me tell you...Pk has a personnality in front of the camera and another one in private...completely....

The players knew it

I'm sure Gally will go back to being an effective player... maybe not a 30 goal scorer, but he's been consistent his entire career. He gets battered during the season... clearly the short off-season fked him over.

That being said, another aspect of being Captain is having the ref's respect. Gally is hated by the refs. Not the guy you want talking to them each game.

Who says he isn't considered? Our vote?

Yeah, he will be considered for sure, like Edmundson.

With Price gone, he's the only 'original' player from before Bergevin, and well, it's Gallagher, last year was piss-poor, and he will slow down (but, we've been saying that for years now), but he gives his all, all the time. That's leadership, on the ice at least.

And Edmundson ? Guy looks like a gentle giant, calm and collected, just look like a good guy to have around, wouldn't mind him at all either.

My pick still remain Suzuki, cause I think he knows what the Habs means to the people, and he's very young, HuGo may very well want to rebuild around him, why not start with making a statement by giving him the C.

Guy is going to make 30 million + more than he deserves thanks to this team. Last guy on the team that should cry. Any tears shed by him are simply out of joy for that contract.

What's the argument for Anderson? What am I missing?

Suzuki became the De-Facto Captain end of last season, he was facing the questions about the rebuild and this offseason only solidified his position. As noted Gally is hated by the Refs so would be a poor choice

For now I'd go with Edmundson. Not gonna put unnecessary pressure on Suzuki yet. Then when Edmundson leaves Nick can get it.

I went with Edmonson, pretty sure Gally will eventually be moved. The safe pick is Edmondson. For me personally there is no clear cut captain material on this team currently. Buy yourself some time with Edmondson and most likely the captain will be coming from another team.

Suzuki, as he at least has a chance of playing here when the team becomes competitive again.

Seems like the guys really look up to Edmundson in the room based on what they say.

I also recall when dadonov came on board that Edmundson was the first guy to get in touch with him.

It just seems like he's got the respect of the room, and he's taken his leadership role to heart.

I see him as a bridge captain for now.

Ultimately, I think suzuki is on track to become captain, and remain captain until he's no longer in the organization, but there's no harm in waiting a couple years before putting that pressure on him.

Judging by how Suzuki is now pictured as the poster child ( even was up on the stand for the 1st overall pick) , if management has it their way, and not a players vote, Suzuki is our man . And I’m 💯 on board.
Kid is something special.

Think its a consensus that he will be the captain

Question is: now, or after 2 years of edmundson interim??

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Should have been Suzuki since last year. Kid killed it in the playoffs and just got better and better while eating 20min+ a game and was pretty much the only forward to show every games this season.

His interview are great and he's not afraid to say something.

As for Gallagher , noty he showed his true colors in the last 2 years. He's not captain worthy.
Edmundson is gone next year TDL , not worth and he's no difference maker.
Anderson doesnt set a great example when he shows up 1 game every 2 weeks.

Suzuki is the future and the face of the franchise , he's young energetic , seems like a no brainer decision with the direction the org is doing. All other 3 players could all be gone by next year.

Why an interim? He's entering his 4 years in the nhl already. He joins community events in Montreal , shows up for draft. Already been talking to the media ALOT this last season.

No need of ''sheltering'' he's not 15 year olds. He's proven he can be a leader. Don't know whats the thing about ''wait till Edmundson is gone'' . We talking to the guy that was healthy scratch in STL an interim captain?

Habs need to put a new face with Price gone. Suzuki well deserved it and I expect him to be even better this season.

Nobody. People say Suzuki but he’s pretty introverted and I think he’d develop better without everything that comes with being captain. Carey realistically is but he’s likely done
