In a vacuum it's fine. It's exactly what teams should be doing to get over the hump. But in the Phillies' scope, WHYYYYY are we not trading Caba for a hitter.

Someone please hold me

Wheeler
Sanchez
Nola
Luzardo and then Painter when Luzardo gets hurt again
Ranger

feels like 2011.
Is Suarez bat bait? I vote a very light no, because of Luzardo's injury history. But you can't help but think

Buy low on Luis Robert Jr before someone else does.
No

Trade Ranger for a hitter now. His arm might be cooked anyway.
Ranger's arm isn't the issue, it was his back last year. Try doing anything with a sore back, let alone pitching. I'd bet he's a pretty safe bounce back candidate this season.

I don't think his first half of the season is his norm btw. I think his baseline is an effective if not all star caliber pitcher

Yeah there's a chance going into his walk year. Or they could use him in the first half and if/when Painter is ready, Ranger becomes a trade chip at the deadline if he performs.

Yes, they can have him
MVP runner up season incoming.

Not sure how to feel. On the surface it’s fine; a win now type of move and it gives us one of the strongest rotations in baseball. I wouldn’t be against trading Ranger for a hitter depending on who the hitter is.

To go against the grain and be a cup half full guy, the bottom half of the lineup was like historically bad. It would be hard to match that collective of ineptitude again. Still, I’d want a shakeup in the bottom half of the lineup

Its the same lineup. Its gonna be historically ineffective once again.
