I know nothing about Yamamoto except three things:

*He has the best last name (so far) of any Japanese (player) import
*He will prove to be, in the end, more valuable than Ohtani for the duration of their major league careers (Q: "How can you know this?" A: I just do, all right?)
*I can't count
Your thing against Ohtani is weird

I don't have anything against the player or the man. I simply don't think his best is ahead of him. He may be amidst his best right now, but those injuries heading into his 30s give me pause. Couple that with his being shelved as a pitcher for now and his lack of presence in the field...

I'm not saying the milk is starting to sour, but I think Yamamoto's "sell by" date is further in the future than Babe Ruth-san.

Phillies will be putting together a strong offer to Yamamoto. The offer will likely not be the top dollars offer, but the Phillies will continue to be aggressive in trying to sign him.

Kewl. So not signing him then. Long way to go about saying that.

There are other factors. Taxes here are lower than CA. Maybe he wants to defer as well but LA doesnt want two contracts like that on the books? We'll see.
