Technically correct of course, but all of us here knows that they're not in that group of teams. Nice try though
What group? The Phillies probably had the best pitching remaining in the LCS and they still lost. The teams that appeared to be contenders in the regular season ended up not having great depth. I wouldn’t have put money down on Ginkel and Sewald allowing as many base runners as they did. Also, the Rangers have been leaning on Leclerc pretty heavily and he hasn’t been perfect.

It’d be on brand for the Diamondbacks to blow leads for a WS victory. They won in 2001 despite back to back collapses

I think it's more of the hitters they have. The younger hitters seemed to improve (see Marsh even Pache), just Nick and Trea mainly are chasing everything. They wont change.

Stott hasn't shown much improvement in discipline either. He just got better at making contact. Still doesn't walk enough. Struck out a ton in the playoffs.

Remember when the Royals were in back to back World Series, winning one of them? What a weird time in baseball. It almost feels like it never happened
I think about that a lot. They were a fun team. Mike Arbuckle left the Phillies to go there after he got passed over for Ruben Amaro.

They lost the World Series in 2014, here were the other AL playoff teams:

Oakland
Baltimore
LA Angels
Detroit

They also beat the Blue Jays in the 2015 ALCS.

I think it is only a matter of time before he starts walking more. He has a good approach and started walking more post ASB. JT is another one that loves to hack after a pitcher is wild.

I just don't get it when they can't lay off pitchers that aren't around the zone. In Pfaarts first start, the pitches they struck out on weren't close. At some point how is the conversation on the bench not about making him throw strikes?

The Burkhardt call of the Garcia HR is worse than anything John Sterling has ever done. Think of the ground that covers. Oh my word.

I know it’s not popular here but gotta give Arizona credit. They were close to being up 2-0 in the series. Record doesn’t really matter in a 5 or 7 game series. Should the Phillies have won? Of course. But the Diamondbacks are a good team. Moreno and Carroll are a great young core

ehh Martin Perez would be the equivalent of Taijuan Walker or Lorenzen allowing runs.
How do you explain the rest of it?

8.1IP, 2K. That's brutal

I still think Arizona is the favorite, which is apparently incomprehensible because they are capable of blowing a lead

Montgomery was not as sharp as he has been prior. Pfaadt versus this version of Scherzer favors Arizona (though only -110), game 4 should favor Texas. I expect it go back to Arlington.

Seems like he's mostly been pitching to contact. Also might've gotten a bit lucky with that strand rate.

If Pfaadt and Kelly are good, I don't have much faith in Texas.

Gallen has been terrible too, he is single handedly trying to tank the DBacks. He needs to be better. 18 Ks to 13 walks in 27.1 innings. Yuck. 6 home runs allowed.

Neither he nor Eovaldi were effective in Game 1. The Rangers' pitching is a little less messy than the Dodgers' to me--still pretty ugly. I like the Diamondbacks' mix if Pfaadt continues to be good.

Im not really sure how much Eovaldi has left. Seems to be running on fumes. Pfaadt gives up alot less homeruns at home. Though the Rangers havent lost a game on the road these playoffs yet. I think it will probably be John Gray in game 4, which is a good option to go to for a few innings as an opener. The Dbacks will probably have a true bullpen game. Could definitely see this going 7.
