Can't wait for the Phillies to come out front and say that Kimbrel is the closer regardless of who is better...

We then find out Torts is the reason.
Kimbrel for Ristolainen. We don't have to watch Risto on a professional athletics field for months, and a bunch of people slam Kimbrel into a wall at top speed. Win-win.

Also I maintained Walker to be worthless and sure enough this bum didn't throw one postseason pitch

Honestly, they should work hard on getting Orion to trust his stuff and try him out. If need be, have Alvarado as the closer in the interim.

Who knows, Painter could be healthy sometime during the next season and he could get a shot at closing until he's back up to full arm strength and he gets actual starts.
They don’t expect Painter to pitch at all this coming season at any level.

I wouldn’t count on him to do anything of value to the big club for a long time.

$18MM regular season innings eater. That's not worthless, but I want to see much more from him. I don't see a tremendous difference between him and Kyle Gibson, for example, who's about half of the cost last season.

Hoping there's some upside to that signing that the Phillies saw/continue to see.

I know!! Pick me!

Painter isn't going to pitch until 2025

18mm must be contributing in the playoffs. There's countless better ways to spend 18 million then on an innings either for the regular season

That's fair. But also consider that there have been only like 30 pitchers to accumulate 300 innings at nearly an ERA of 4.00 or lower in the last two seasons. You can gamble on getting those innings year to year with cheap short term signings, however, I'm guessing the results are more mixed. There's value in that certainty, as much as that's possible with MLB pitching, though I'm not sure how far $18MM is from the mark.

Tbh, October 20th, 2023 should be the new black Friday. The day Rob brought in Kimbrel when everyone else knew he shouldnt. The fact that they only scored 3 runs in games 6 and 7 is leaving him off the hook for this from many. He lost it there. At the same time it the final two games reinforced how useless Nick is.

I still cannot f***ing believe they choked that series away.

We should be playing in Game 1 of the World Series tonight.
I can, the manager brought in Craig Kimbrel the day after it took him 24 pitches to get 1 out when everyone else knew he shouldnt. They got what they deserve. Also they chased too many pitches out of the zone, which they did all year.

Packed for a 10 day trip last week and included my Harper jersey in anticipation of wearing it tonight… had to wrap something around it to stop seeing it

Remember when the Royals were in back to back World Series, winning one of them? What a weird time in baseball. It almost feels like it never happened

I listened to alot of the press conference by DD and RT. They are pretty open and straight forward compared tof others. Some notable points:

-Top priority seems to be to bring back Nola or bringing in another top end starter if they cant bring him back. Though how DD spoke about him he seems to think he is gone. Mentions McGarry and Abel by name and as of now he doesnt expect them to contribute, also thinks Painter will be back in 2025 but didnt rule out 2024.

- Was asked if Rhys would get a qualifying offer and he instanly responded he doesnt know.

- Johan will not be handed the starting centerfield job next year. They are still very high on him though.

- DD said while they didnt play well in games 3 and 4 in Arizona, you cant give away a game like they did in game 4 and expect to win a playoff series. Game 4 was the turning point for him.

- They dont know yet if Bryce will remain at 1b or move back to the outfield, they will have that discussion with him.

- RT has not spoken to Taijuan after his tweets and likes the other night but will call him soon.

- Would like to extend Wheeler.

- Emphasized how they swing at way too any pitches out of the zone (which they did all year) and that is something they need to fix.

Anyone recall what seats were going for during the cs rounds on the premium level? grand plan here is to sell some tickets come playoff time to make some cash back on cost of the full season plan
