I guess around what Eflin got for SP and maybe what Pierce Johnson got as a reliever last UFA season. It'd help a f***ton if they attracted some of the players looking to break into the league, but that seems improbable.
Looking at the list of starters, I have no idea. They dont need to get any older but he was pretty good this year so if the Braves decline Morton's option try to bring him back in for a year? Thrown over 160 innings the past 3 years. I dont need to see Lance Lynn or Kyle Gibson again . DD is going to have to earn his money.

I need everyone's list of budget dark horse pitchers.
Fujinami. We already have a bunch of dudes who can't throw strikes, what's one more? The ceiling is so high for him as a bullpen guy.

Do you consider Joe Jimenez or Reynaldo Lopez dark horses? I'm hoping for one of them. Take a run at Jordan Hicks too. Wandy Peralta. Pomeranz is a fun name coming off injury

Relievers are so volatile so no need spending big money on them, need find them outside the margins. Which they have been able to do with Hoffman and Jose Cant expect Hoffman to be as good as he was this year, though in return maybe Seranthony bounces back. I like Strahm and I do think Orion will be fine, doesnt seem to throw his fastball enough. Soto I expect nothing from him, if anything I expect his BB/9 to go back over 5 again. I never really trusted this bullpen either but alot of it probably was due to them having so much confidence in Kimbrel. I just want at least one reliever that can come in and throw strikes.

Yeah, I was looking at most of those guys. I guess they're in the second or third tier after Hader, so they might not be cheap. Fujinami is probably the exception, but I think a lot of the league is intrigued by his stuff. Jimenez might be the safest, though I'd prefer to gamble on guys who're in the upper 90s like Lopez, Hicks, and Fujinami.

Didn't know Pomeranz was still pitching! Might be worth a minors contract. Looks like he's been iffy over the past two seasons in tiny samples.

Phillies might look at a one year fix, Abel should start in AAA, Painter should be back in 2025, and they have McGowan and McGarry as well as a bunch of RP arms.

So, are you guys rooting for the Rangers or the D-Backs?

I have nothing against the Rangers other than that they are from Dallas. They're not the Cowboys, but I would wager most of their fanbase are also Cowboys fans and F those people, haha. There's probably more Cowboys fans who don't care too much about the Rangers and who would be annoyed that they got one before the Cowboys though.

Technically I also have nothing against the D-Backs either but I'd by lying if I said that I don't hate their faces just a little after that 7 game series. Nothing like the Braves and I'm mostly mad at the Phillies themselves, but you know, playoffs breed animosity.

I guess I'm leaning Rangers, but I don't care too much either way...

I have been a Rangers fan since I was a kid, not exactly sure why, but excited to see them try to get that ring again. The Nelson Cruz drop from the last WS still bothers me.

Im not sure how much of it Ill watch. Last World Series I remember barely watching was Giants/Tigers. I think I only watched game 1, not really sure why I didnt watch the rest of the series. Not like the Phillies were in the playoffs that year and got eliminated.

Because if you were like me, you hated the Giants because of 2010 and Cody f***ing Ross.

I watched all of 2010 and 2014 though. All I remember from the 2012 World Series was Pablo Sandoval hitting 3 home runs in game 1 that was Justin Verlander against Barry Zito. I must have thought it was over after that .

Honestly, I can't f***ing believe the rest of the league let those Giants teams win 3 World Series' in 5 years. What the f***.

It's not this simple but this cracks me up:

Ketel Marte squaring up seemingly everything and finding open field almost 60% of the time will haunt my dreams. As will Castellanos and his -46 wRC+. Don't let anyone tell you Harper wasn't a stud.

I'm rooting for the DBags. Not a ton of likeable guys on the Rangers and I don't want Scherzer to get another ring or de Grom to get a ring.

Nick is useless normally at the plate and is one of the worst fielders in baseball. Doesn't get talked about enough cause they had a historically bad left fielder. He is so easy to pitch to, dont throw anything within a half foot of the plate. When he predictably struck out in the 4th, it killed game. Lot of blame to go around but he has been the anchor these past two playoffs. They will never win a World Series with him as an everyday player.

You are incredibly spite deficient.
Oh no, I am as spiteful as they come. My spite is currently directed at the Phillies. They did this to themselves. The DBags shut us up and not even by playing that great. The strategy of swinging at every single pitch just isn't a good one in the NLCS.

Can't wait for the Phillies to come out front and say that Kimbrel is the closer regardless of who is better...

We then find out Torts is the reason.
They demoted him in the NLCS and he's a pending UFA. I think they'll explore other options

Honestly, they should work hard on getting Orion to trust his stuff and try him out. If need be, have Alvarado as the closer in the interim.

Who knows, Painter could be healthy sometime during the next season and he could get a shot at closing until he's back up to full arm strength and he gets actual starts.
