Oh also the place went nuclear after the Harper walk. Obviously everyone booed as he was taking his gear off, but when Bohm got up to bat it was like a playoff atmosphere. Everyone was going crazy. Then he jacked one and it blew the top off.

Also also the Shohei dynamic is funny. Mixed cheers and boos. More boos, but especially as the game was out of reach people started yelling to come to Philly and stuff. Me and this other guy near us in the section were complete Stans, no shame. We had a few laughs over it.

That being said the overwhelming murmur throughout the crowd, especially after he smoked that double, was "Jesus Christ this guy is amazing"

This guy is the worst. Bryce Harper is the king of the panderers. This isn’t an example of that.

The dude just f***ing sucks. I have no idea how you can take that fun little bit and just completely shit all over it.

You 100% know that if Risto said the same thing for the Flyers, he would be touting it up and down the street for a f***ing week.

Seriously, I have zero clue how this guy has work.

Giolito, Matt Moore, Grichuk, Renfroe, Reynaldo Lopez, Harrison Bader, Carrasco, Clevinger, Cisnero, all on waivers.

Moore has been great in the bullpen. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Lopez is an interesting name, 98 with a wipeout slider.

Bader would normally be interesting for OF defensive purposes but with Marsh, Pache and Rojas I'm not sure he fits. Very odd to say considering recent years

If money wasn't an option, I don't think I'd hate Clevinger, but he is pricy and we have a lot of starters.

Taking the boy to his first Phillies game today. Got the last Wheelchair accessible seat in the building apparently but it is in the 300's...hoping i can find a good spot in standing room somewhere on the lower level and then sneak into an ADA section. Couldn't figure out why there weren't any ADA tickets available but then realized it's Seniors stroll the bases day today...gonna be smelling like old people at CBP today

I cannot help but think quantitative analysis wouldn’t have been quite so controversial if Bill James was only 95% asshole instead of the whole enchilada.

These are functionally equivalent posts. It can be so hard not to let these things ruin fun. I completely understand why some people don’t want to care.

Im not sure if any of the advanced stat guys can answer this, maybe such a stat doesn’t exist, but is there a type of adjusted era for relievers? Like a reliever who is great in 70 games but has a few disastrous ones has the same era as a reliever who consistently gives up a run here and there but avoids giving up big innings. I feel the first would be better due to having more clean innings

Thompson said on radio that Nola is #2 in the playoff rotation unequivocally. He also said that Pache will be up on Friday when rosters expand they're going to platoon Marsh, Pache, and Rojas with likely Marsh to sit vs. lefties.

I'd like Rojas and Marsh to play as much as possible. I like Pache though. So don't mind that. Stop playing Castro though. What they can't have is Schwarber in the field in the playoffs. Ideally they aren't playing Bryce back to back days in the field since he started because they are saving it for October.

He commended Rodolfo for not sulking after being replaced by Stott yesterday and still celebrating with the team.

I want to say he said something about Harper at first but I don’t remember what it was so he probably didn’t say anything specific.

It's why Hoskins coming back (and would strictly be able to only DH) while I'm sure it would pump-up the team, scares me for the playoffs because that means Schwarber is in LF every game. Scoring goes down in the playoffs and having your worst two defensive OF's play nearly every game is not good.

At least with a Marsh/Rojas/Castellanos OF you are able to have Castellanos basically only have to play like maybe 2/3 of what a 'normal' RF would cover there.

I think the goose egg is much better, however it shouldn't be restricted to the 7th inning or later.

Here's my partial proposal. I'm not a statistician

It's much easier to score in some situations than others. I believe it is valuable to know which relievers outperform their run expectancy and by how much. Couple that with WHIP somehow with some model, and now you get a snapshot of how well a pitcher suppresses baserunners, and if any baserunners reach, if those runs are prevented.

It would end up being like a gymnastics score. They're scored by how well they perform but are given bonus points by how difficult their routine is.

So if a pitcher's difficulty is 2 (runners at 2nd and 3rd, nobody out) and only one run scores, well that's actually not so bad. You could attempt to average out their avg difficulty per appearance or something

Most importantly, I’m glad you had a good time at the game. <3

Your post reminded me about something. I was only thinking in the context of relievers, but this is along the lines of your thoughts:
