I doubt Provorov or Sanheim would step right into Lindholm's shoes, but we need someone who's not green as hell on the left side.

Depends on asking price for both. We've got a silly amount of 2nds.

EDIT: Reading the other comments...you want to make a run but give up one of these two, so presumably you want NHL talent?

Anaheim offers Steel, Tracey and a 2nd for Sanheim f unextended. If extended, I'd tack on a 2024 1st.

EDIT 2: I keep mixing them up...Sanheim is who I'd want.
I think both can fill in lindholms shoes…what lol?

Eh, I spoke too soon - I'd prefer Sanheim because of his physicality and size. Our current blueline and pipeline are both missing that on the back end, and we need someone who can babysit Drysdale.

Provorov would be another Fowler in our system. Smooth skating, could play in all-situations, big minutes, and has good durability. The problem is...we don't need another Fowler. So I prefer Sanheim because he's filling in a niche that we don't have.

TBH I don't think there's a serious deal to be made between the Ducks and Flyers, because we can't give what the Flyers need (serious talent up the middle)...because we need them too.

Damn I totally agree on the provorov-fowler. Two players that, at least to me, had more potential. Def don’t need two of them haha but you never know…maybe provorov can do more

Provy will almost certainly be a better player on a good team with more defensive depth. That way he does not need to be THE guy and just play to his strengths. Of the two, if I’m the flyers I trade Provorov while his value is probably the highest it’ll be while with Philly and keep Sanheim, who is overall the better player anyway. Perhaps this can be done before the draft and Philly can recoup a 2nd rounder for this year and another 1st for next season, as well as a solid center or prospect.

before they loaned him to the marlies, there were comments made about curing bad habits phil myers had picked up, ( i wonder where that happened). so i doubt teams are going to pay a premium or be fine with a hockey trade for a flyers defenseman. with that in mind and fletchers competence at his job i doubt the flyers get anything good from trading provo or sanheim, despite how good sanheim is playing.
I wouldn't be worried about Provy and Sanheim playing down to bad habits. Gostisbehere went to Arizona of all places and is scoring in the top 20 for defenseman this year. Myers regressed but he wasn't a quality NHL regular in his last season here.

Sanheim has good size, but he is not what I would consider a physical defenseman at all.
You gotta understand that the moment we lost Lindholm and Manson, we lost any serious size or physical capabilities on the back end.

If Sanheim accidentally grazed past a forward one time, he would already be leading our blueline in physicality.

If it's "size" and a "physical presence" you want, it's probably Provorov you want, not Sanheim.

If it's "tall" you want...then yeah, Sanheim i guess.

What is this Sanheim > Provorov talk I'm reading in here? Is that really true?

It seems more likely Provorov will be traded than Sanheim atm. If he is, it will be to clear out cap space, likely for a big name forward acquisition.

So really, itd be one of 3 things:

1. Provy traded for a package (1st + higher end prospect + another asset)...with most of his cap hit getting cleared so they can sign a big name FA.

2. Provy gets traded in a 1 for 1 for a top line forward around similar cap hit

3. Provy is the center piece in a mega deal for a superstar forward that hits the market.

My guess is itll be the 2nd one. Idk who the forward version of Provy is out there. Nylander comes to mind (just as a realistic 1 for 1 value wise).

As a Wings fan, the price I'd personally be willing to pay for a legitimate top 4 LHD under 27 with term is something like:

'23 1st (top 5 protected)
'22 2nd (WSH)
Buyer's choice of Joe Veleno (C) and Jonathan Berggren (W)
Buyer's choice of Albert Johansson (LHD) and William Wallinder (LHD)

Obviously I wouldn't like to give all of that up, and if Philly is truly not looking for futures then this probably isn't a fit. But that's the type of package I would be comfortable with Yzerman paying to fill our black hole at LHD.

That seems to be the state of affairs, with whatever Chuck Fletcher (and beloved advisors Clarke and Holmgren) consider to be "hockey trades." So if your team has any meaty, one-or-two-dimensional underachievers floating around its system, have at it. As long as they're not too young, though. If they are under, say, 23, they might have some untapped creativity that they've yet to display, and that's just too big of a risk.
Perfect. Riley Sutter + Kody Clark + 2nd for Provo from Washington. Son of Ron and Son of Wendel are tuff and big.

What would Flyers fans make of a Provorov for JT Miller sort of swap? It'd certainly fill the apparent need for a top center. He's not super young anymore, and the contract situation obviously complicates things. But would that be of any interest?

That's the sort of thing that would hurt a lot, but probably be manageable from a Canucks fan perspective.

Anyone watch the Flyer game tonight? yeah you don't trade players like Provorov when your a rebuilding team... I don't care if he's had a bad year playing with Braun....would be sheer stupidity unless its a massive over payment. Same with Sanheim both are guys you build around not trade

Get rid of Homer and Clarkie....2 legends but they need to enjoy retirement... If you keep Fletcher than make sure he has ZERO role in regards to on ice decisions.....Hire Kimmo, Pronger or Briere. even better go steal an up and coming young AGM from another org.... we need change in Philly and that doesn't include players under 26

Fletcher dont care what you offer other than that 2024 1st. He gets a hard on when he reads 2024 draft.
Flahr has him focused on the 2024 so he wants to acquire as much draft picks 2024 he can!

So maybe Cucky would do Sanheim (signed) + Provorov for Cap Dump (bottom sixer with leadership image and lockerroom presence image) + 2024 1st + bottom six dman who can get alot of hItZ without doing anything positive for the team!

You can do that? You will be rebuild you defense in 1 minute with Fletcher being proud of the trade!
