I cant remember if it was mentioned here earlier, but this game made me think about how Doc needs to be back calling our games. You can just tell that when NJ is playing a rival, NJ is still his team, even if he doesn't come off super homerish in the process. Nothing against Cangi, but tonight's game definitely had a throwback feel, for me at least. He's definitely missed for sure, and I thought it was great of him to really push the positive attendance comments. You never hear that type of stuff on a national telecast because all they're ever concerned with is trashing the playing style, or its attendance, making stupid comments about defense, etc.

What did we play like 7 or 8 non-divisional games in a row or something? We've always had trouble with the Isles and they are better this year so that is nothing new. This is definitely a game we needed though, the two wins were a start, but we needed to just go to town and dominate someone. Let the guys start having some fun out there again.

This would be sweeter if we got news that Zubs starts skating tomorrow or Friday and Marty starts practicing again.

Ugh speaking of the Islanders they get the two bottom feeders down here this weekend. After that their schedule gets a bit tougher though.

God I would so love to have one throw back Doc and Chico game. Chico is so much more tolerable when you have Doc there to reel him in and correct him.

As long as Doc loses those two monstrosities, those idiots Barfo, and P-no-hair. Luckily the Flyers were behind all night so they were tolerable. If they were winning you would have heard so much crap out of those two losers.

Just mentioned how all but two games have sold out this year. And that they used to only sell out to the Rangers and Flyers, but now we're selling out to Winnipeg, and Buffalo on weeknights.

He spent like, the last 30 seconds of the game talking about how the Rock has been sold out on weekends, wednesdays, division rivals, you name it, and that we've only had 2 non-sellouts.

Point being no one else on NBC's broadcast would of bothered, but he made sure to get that in there because Doc is awesome.

Also, Kovy didn't look slow when he broke away for his shorty. He's def not ATL fast, but he's still got some speed when he wants to use it.

He doesn't show the same level of "jump" he may have had when we first got him, but he still has some speed to him when he lets it go. I think a lot of it is also that he plays in his own end now. Either he's using more of his energy all over the ice and doesn't always have it at that point of a shift to go mach 5 speed anymore. Or now that he's playing D unlike earlier in his career, he gets the puck further away from the opposing goal and doesn't always have that same opening to just rush straight up and ahead of everyone. The PK gives him the freedom to do that more I guess since he's always playing closer to the D-men and the blue line.

It's only my opinion but I don't buy into the now he's playing defence stuff at all. He just skates differently since his back injury, it's simple as that. Even on the shorthanded breakaway, he was fast but not Kovy-like fast.

He doesn't seem bothered one bit AND maybe with time he's going to get better. No big deal.

And Doc was amazing to hear again, I really really miss him. I wish he chose to retire from doing national broadcasts instead of the MSG games. I can see him returning to our broadcast for one last game or something before he hangs up the mic. But thats just wishful thinking.

Ya we are at 8 now. Closest team to us has like 5 I think and everyone else has less. Kovy has more alone then most teams. Crazy stat.

We would be on pace to break last years shorthanded goal total in an 82 game season. I remember we cooled down later in the year last year during the second half. Still don't think we had 8 after 27 games last year though.

Actually TG's blog cleared that up for me. Henrique has 2 of them, and Andy Greene has 1. I forgot about Andy's deke on MAF!

NHL's facebook actually posted an interesting question. Which goal was nicer? Loki's Henrique PP goal, or Kovy's?

Actually bit tougher then I thought at first because Adam's backhand was REALLY nice, and anytime Kovy scores a goal it is pretty.

Man I was one of the people who said cutdown on Kovy's shorthanded ice time. Part of me would still like to see it cut a little bit. However there's nothing that beats seeing Kovy skating up that ice shorthanded on a breakaway!
