The worst fan interaction i've ever had was in Minnesota for the Super Bowl around where ESPN was broadcasting. Some Vikings fan tried to talk smack after they just got embarrassed by the Eagles two weeks before. It was actually perfect timing because I looked at my watch as he was trying to talk trash and it was 6:22 (aka 38 to 7) so I looked at my watch and asked him what time it was.

pwn'd.

Sorry to hear that, outside of NFCE teams or against playoff opponents, I personally havent seen anything outside of the norm (saying a team sucks, saying a player sucks, telling a fan to sit down). The only times I usually see opposing fans of non rival teams get more shit than usual is when they are antagonizing eagles fans.

I am not saying your experience didnt happen, not saying you deserved the heckling, but as someone who has been to MANY home games and away games, I havent seen philadelphians really act any different than other fan bases. With that being said, cant say that for division games or playoff games. I am not envious of those fans.

Edit: Just curious, where did you sit? Unfortunately every stadium has its fair share of drunken idiots and there tends to be more in the upper levels than lower in my experience.
This makes all of the difference. I sat 4 rows off the field for Sunday's game and there was a group of Jags fans by us going nuts after they went up 14-0 and no one said a thing other than Boo or sit down. But I've also sat in the upper deck for many other games where people have hurled beers at opposing fans or have tried to start fights for standing up and cheering or after a big play for their team. People are just way more confrontational up there and not in a fun, playful way. I personally would never wear opposing colors in the upper deck at the linc, there's just way too many assholes per capita. Security has gotten way better at escorting the assholes out after crossing the line but you'd still have to deal with it.

Vikings fans are the little boy who cried wolf. They can dish it, but cant take it. When I was at the super bowl, a vikings fan in full vikings gear was in the front of our section and was antagonizing eagles fans and clapping in faces and talking a lot of shit every time the patriots did something.

In the 2nd quarter, a woman (A HERO), threw his vikings hat/helmet off the balcony. Within minutes he flagged security and got her kicked out OF THE FRIGGIN SUPERBOWL! What a loser.

Quick story: When I was 17, me and a buddy drove up to Giants stadium for the playoff game (want to say it was 09?) We were sitting in the upper levels, and we were pretty good about not talking shit and respecting that we were visitors of a rival team. When Brandon Jacobs got stopped on 4th and 1 to basically end the game, I stood up and clapped....and immediately was punched in the face by what had to have been a 40+ year old man lol. It was one of those moments when time stopped. We had even been talking to this guy and his 2 brothers next to him for the entire game. Was a heat of the moment event, and I wasnt even mad because I was thinking to myself "what if I was a giants fan and stood up and clapped in front of a dejected fanbase that just had their hearts ripped out in the playoffs by a rival team" and realized the same result would probably occur in philly. Almost every giant fan around me just sat there stunned. Even though I was 17, I am 6'5 so easy to think I was older. We took that as our time to leave (whole stadium was emptying out at this point) and proceeded to dodge beers and insults on the way out. I was soaked with beer by the time I got to the parking lot. Once again, I am not completely innocent as I definitely stood up with an obnoxious clap when that happened, but that was a lesson I learned at an early age.

Edit: @WIP CALLER , you are 100% correct. If you sit in the upper levels in any rival stadium, you are doubling your chances of having a bad time. I understand that financially not everyone can afford to sit in the lower levels, but if a concern of yours is how the opposing fan base will treat you, it is absolutely worth the extra money. Once again, drunken idiots are not unique to Philadelphia nor are assholes.

You're correct too that it isn't limited to Philly. It's funny too that the worst experience I've ever had in a NFL stadium was also in New York/New Jersey(Metlife) a few years ago sitting in the upper deck. Their team was getting thrashed by Nick Foles and the entire 4th quarter people were trying to start shit with us even though we weren't even standing and cheering during scores, just high fiving each other in our seats. Some Jimmy Guido behind us chucked his beer at my buddies head and tried shoving him while he's sitting down before security escorted him out. We also took that as our cue to leave since we weren't trying to catch an assault charge for defending ourselves at a freaking football game... Have never sat upper deck in any opposing stadium other since because it really is like that everywhere. The asshole ratio severely increases the higher up you go.

I have been to 18 of the 30 NFL stadiums (SoFi and Metlife home to 2 teams) and honestly the only bad experiences I have ever had are at Metlife+M&T Bank. We missed the 2 point conversion in 2016 and the way in which we were treated you would have thought they had just won the super bowl....I was also not a happy camper.

I will say though...I ignored my own advice and dug myself deeper into a hole when I let the trash talk bother me. There were certain things that crossed the line and were directed at the girl I was with at the time and I was ready to take on half the section I was in lol.

Edit: have another funny story. I went to the Mavs vs Sixers game with a buddy who flew in from Philly last year (worst weekend of all time for him to visit, had a friggin snow storm in dallas and half the city was shut down). There was a delay at the game because of a backboard issue, so the players were standing around for a while. My buddy yelled "Lukaaaa you fat f***kkk" relating to that offseason where he said he didnt work out and looked out of shape to start the year. A cop came into our section and pulled him out into the concourse. My buddy comes back smiling and said "the cop goes "did you say luka, you are a fat f*** and more?" and my buddy goes "yes officer, I did say that. I am sorry wont happen again" and gets to sit back down. Me being a drunken idiot, asked him who snitched and he said the cop said someone in the lower level. I immediately leaned over the railing and was yelling obsceneities to the lower level for snitching and the cop turns around and goes 'DUDE...ARE YOU SERIOUS!" and I just said "my bad my bad im done had to get that out of me" and we enjoyed the rest of the game lol. It was like the scarface seen where he says people need a bad guy like him. They wanted Philly Philly and they got Philly Philly lol.

I am aware that this paints me as the drunk/obnoxious fan, but we were having fun with all of the dallas fans and even partied with the people next to us into the night. It was all in good fun!

So we went from Butker hurt...

To a Butt Punt

To a kicker named Dicker....

NFL is weird

In just this season before someone says I missed the Sanchize Butt Fumble...

It all started last year when the Commodes tried to fix their kicking position with a guy named "Blewitt" and he immediately blew it.

It started walking from the tailgate at WFC to the Linc some very rude comments to the lady with me.

Then in the stadium an under 16 year old fan was yelling like a sailor at my friend and I every score...When I totally ignored him for 2 quarters he turned his wrath on the gentleman 3 rows behind me. That dude literally told him to sit down because he was 3 times the kids size. Trust me I had nothing to say the Broncos got killed that day thanks to BROCK OSWEILLER...

Was at a Giants home game the weekend Princess Diana died. Old college buddy of mine was living in Tarrytown and was standing and cheering whenever the Eagles did something positive. People threw peanuts at us. No big deal.

Dial it back to 1986, or so, and I'm in my third year at U of D. Had to sit in the opponents' section because no seats left in the home sections. West Chester was up 27-0. There was a significant contingent of WCU supporters behind us and they were really giving it to us and the other Blue Hens fans. They were cheering, "Delaware sucks!" over and over again. Finally, the alcohol kicked in. I stood up, turned around and yelled, "West Chester sucks!" Before I knew it, fists started flying. I leaped at the biggest guy and just started throwing, oblivious to the punches landing on me. From out of the crowd, the a number of guys from the "steroid" fraternity (of which I had many friends) joined in to even it up. After I was pulled away (and subsequently kicked out), one of them yelled he used to play football at WCU and hates U of D. I laughed. Most of these guys were bigger than me. It all lasted maybe 10 seconds. Wouldn't you know Delaware came back and won 28-27 (or a similar score)? After the game, I was back in the tailgate area and those same guys were walking towards me, returning to their cars. I was walking in their direction. We saw each other but none of us broke stride. Finally, when I walked past that one guy, maybe two feet away, I just said, "Nice game," and kept walking. I guess we realized how stupid it all was.
