A couple of things that stood out to me:

  • He's higher on Hyatt than most people and I think the league will agree with him. Those deep threats are prioritized.
  • Richardson at 14. That's who I've been watching and if someone can fix his footwork, look the hell out. Is that fixable? Hell if I know. But it's awful. He clicks his heels so often you have to wonder if anyone even tried to correct it.
  • Kancey at 35 is fine. Apparently Kiper and someone else had him top 10. He's a small 3 Tech. Two-thirds of the teams in the league probably wouldn't draft that in the top 50.
  • The Mazi Smith dream is basically dead.
  • I cannot shake the feeling the Eagles end up with Zach Charbonnet.
  • Given the premium put on the position these days, if DJ Turner is available at 62, he's on my short list.

I'm just having fun with it. Bummed to have lost, but happy for the run we had.
Yeah it was a fun ride and I expect them to be in the playoffs the next few years as their offensive core is intact. The NFC is open too. They were so close and it will be difficult to get back there. I think this is the game that made me realize I'll never be nervous about a sporting event again. We will see though .

Halas, Shula, Belichick, Lombardi, and Reid. You pick the order and I won't argue, but that's Tier 1.

Madden was on track, but had to do it longer to get to the very top.
I would think you have to put Paul Brown in there. I mean, his coaching tree includes just about everybody who is anybody, including Big Red.

Brown's a better influence category guy than an actual coach to me. Hell, he may be the ultimate influence guy. That's not to say he wasn't a great coach. Just not T1 for me personally.

Shuttling plays in to the QB, putting a radio in his helmet, and the bar on Otto Graham's facemask all came from him. The entire concept of pass protection came from Paul Brown. Before him, the OL just blocked like it was a run.

That's not how you spell Bijan Robinson.

I think I'm at the point where if the deep threat is the only thing in his "toolbox" it has to be done really well. I wasn't convinced earlier but I'm leaning towards if he goes in the 1st round he goes in the 1st round and hopefully he'll find a scheme that will utilize him properly.

Richardson seems like a complete wild card and everyone is going to be attracted to the crazy flashes. But he's not fundamentally sound. I've had this gut feeling Tampa would take him at 19 and I don't think that's changed.

Idk about Kancey. Kiper had him at 10 to the Eagles. Sikkema and Rogers (PFF NFL Stock Exchange) had him at 2 in their pre combine rankings for IDL. I frankly don't know enough.

I feel like this CB class is nice. I really want Clark Phillips III despite his size. I'm enamored with some late round fliers like Jaylon Jones (Texas A&M).

Also the first to hire full time assistants and he invented the draw play.

The Eagles played 5 "good" QBs this year. Goff, Cousins, Rodgers, Prescott, and Mahomes. The only one they did actually well against was Cousins.

They feasted on crap.
And those good QBs did the same thing they stayed away -- mostly -- from Bradbury and Slay and attacked the underneath against our LBs and our safetys who were playing 75 yards off the LOS. Gannons defense was set up to control big plays and allow smaller chunk plays and hope the DL could get home, if that didn't happen Gannon didn't know how to adjust. When you aren't playing with a sizeable lead, 10pts is not sizeable, this defense is almost useless unless those good Qbs make a mistake.

I thought I was better about it, but looking at the near future has me bummed for the missed opportunity. Alot of uncertainty (lane, Kelce, new OC, half the defense is gone), and pending cap issues.

If Gannon leaves maybe that is addition by subtraction despite the players lost. I think I heard Lane wants to play another 3 years or so. I dont see Kelce retiring. The Eagles offense is going to be very good and look at the conference. Huge missed opportunity of course but just get in the playoffs each year.

Johnson said two years on PMT last week.

IIRC, Sirianni gave up play calling pretty early on last year and didn't really do too hot while he did have it.

This is some crazy green tinted glasses. I also recall Siriani calling plays for his first half season and it t not going well. What has Brian Johnson done to show he's a good play caller? "Get along" with Hurts? This is all dumb. No one who claims to know actually knows how he's going to do

Absolutely love him. Unfortunately, they already paid Maddox. You can't play two of those guys too much unless you want Phillips to move to a hybrid Safety role.

I don't think you can get out of Maddox until 2025? That's just from memory.

Because of course they did.

@JojoTheWhale Howie wasn't reading your letters but the Ravens were.

Just in time to toss the cyanide in my yogurt. Appreciate the timing.

*Edit* Oh my god, if they hire Kliff, I may combust.
