My boy ESP doesn't tremble in the face of Purdy

What happens when a defense that is historically great at removing the middle of the field in the passing game comes up against an offense that doesn't care about it very much? Who adjusts first? Who has the counter to the counter correct and who has it wrong? What does DeMeco Ryans use Fred Warner to try to accomplish?

The Eagles try to make runners cut horizontally and funnel them back into the middle of the defense. Does that work against the best Counter team in football? How do the Eagles handle Shanahan's TE shifts? Gannon's defense is based on package specificity. Are they concerned with Shanahan going back to Shotgun Power runs for huge gains like they did in 2019?

I think Eagles were vulnerable at one point, but with Davis back with Joseph and Suh, you can't wear them down inside - and that's the key to a power running game. Most teams play their top 2-3 DT a lot more snaps than the backups, so if you run up the reps - they wear down and you start gashing them for big gains. Eagles have ridiculous DL depth now, can play multiple fronts and rotate fresh legs in all game.

At the same time, their already thin Safety group is falling apart. The Giants and Titans aren't the teams to exploit that. Luckily Blankenship's injury seems to be on the shorter end of the spectrum, but he also needs to not turn back into a pumpkin. I'm most worried about that and the CGJ injury right now. Those guys are put in position to make plays by design.

I'm also worried about Gannon's counterpunch to someone beating these Bear fronts in the run game consistently, but that's for another day.

I want a safety so bad in this draft.

I think I say this every year.

I really think there’s something to the idea that they prefer getting NFL Safeties other than late rounders. It's a VERY difficult position to evaluate, let alone project up a level. Please note this could be me rationalizing them passing on SIX good prospects to take Sanders and JJAW in the 2019 2nd round. That one still confounds me, but at least they ended up with one of them after all.

I'm nominating #TeamTradeDown's slogan to be "Back it up for Branch".

Safety is such a mental position, teams fall in love with athletic studs all the time who flop.
LB is a mix, some top LBs are athletic studs, other high IQ guys who use anticipation to make up for average athleticism (Edwards).
I think b/c you can scheme for a great athlete at LB, but at safety, there's no substitute for seeing what's happening and being in the right place.

The impact of Joseph and Suh wasn't just on the run, it allowed Cox to play DT/DE with fewer snaps and limited Hargrave's snaps overall and at NT. It's not surprising both players have picked up their pass rush.

I hate J. Taylor cause he went to Wisconsin. I hate him cause he rekt me in the playoffs one year when he went up against New England and broke off a late chunk play. I hate him cause now he gets hurt and I started Deon Jackson who is now getting valuable touches and scored a TD when I'm trying to tank. ARGHHHH
