I've seen speculation that they're holding off on releasing/firing him right now because they don't want to potentially disrupt him while he's interviewing for these HC positions (that we all know he's not getting), probably also wanting to make sure they keep the option open to get a comp pick as well.

But if he ends up not getting anything, there's still a chance he's let go and Jim Bob Cooter is still the only name connected to filling the OC void.

He probably won't be going anywhere because no one has any balls in this org. Roseman doesn't have the balls to draft LBs, let alone firing Siriani. And Siriani doesn't have the balls to pass over the middle of the field, let alone fire a coordinator. They all are so far up their own asses

Which is why it's time for Howie to go, but few want to face that reality.

Didn't seem to have a problem firing Doug shortly after a Super Bowl

From a managerial POV, I think Howie's made it pretty clear it's his show through & through.

God forbid we lose Howie & find out what an actual bad GM is.

So the names we've heard so far for DC are:

-Ron Rivera
-Wink Martindale
-Ryan Nielsen
-Glenn Schumann (maybe? he interviewed last year)
-Al Harris (was mentioned by the Inquirer this morning, don't know if they were saying they SHOULD interview him or if he's a legit candidate)

They can point to how Rivera fared back in 2010 when he was last a full-time DC, but he's been a HC with, presumably, the ability to strongly influence the defense and his teams haven't been all that good. Plus, 2010 was 14 years ago, the game has changed considerably in that time.

The defense Howie built is dogshit. The coordinators he hired were dogshit. Keeping Sirriani is dogshit. At some point, the GM has to be held accountable for the moves he's making today, not the success he had yesterday.

Lions and their long suffering fanbase deserve a Super Bowl. They have my support now. I am not a Ravens fan but they would be obviously preferable to the Chiefs or SF. A Chiefs-SF Super Bowl I won’t watch

You're kind of in the spot I was in with AV when he was hired here. I'm sorry in advance for the people that are going to argue with you endlessly.

No defensive coach who spends years watching Del Rio repeatedly turn in massively lazy coaching performances, and says "yeah he's an adult so I don't have to intervene unless it's really bad" can be trusted to coach defense ever again. It stands to reason that he did not actually grasp how bad it was, as he apparently never intervened. That's very not good. His talent appraisal on the D side is pretty butt too. Forbes and Davis? Ew. Rivera is completely and totally cooked. He lives in the past. Nobody should hire him. He needs to retire and enjoy the rest of his life.

Doug wanted out because he knew that he had cache in the league and was tired of Howie and Jeff's meddling. He quit just as much as he got fired.

Sirriani? He's a puppet that after the Eagles let him go won't see another HC job but that's what the owner and GM want.
