Other Sports: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): THIS IS BRAZIL (Start Of 2024 Regular Season)

You’re correct here. It’s just a measure of the reputation of NCAA play. Linemen and defensive players don’t win the Heisman except in extreme corner cases. It’s just skill position guys.

1st place: Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter (Will be a top 3-5 pick this year)
2nd place: Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty (Will be taken somewhere in the top 15-20)
3rd place: Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel (may sneak into Round 2, but probably R3-R4)
4th place: Miami QB Cam Ward (mid 1st round to early 2nd round talent who may go much higher because of the positional value of QBs)
5th place: Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo (let’s call it Round 3)
6th place: Army QB Bryson Daily (Not an NFL player)
7th place: Penn State TE Tyler Warren (mid-late 1st round)
8th place: Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders (same answer as Cam Ward)
9th place: Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke (not a lock to be drafted at all)
10th place: Syracuse QB Kyle McCord (Round 5 or so)

Makes sense -- appreciate the insight as always!

NFL guy, but like a 4th rounder. I wouldn’t expect him to be a good starter or anything.

There are people that have him as a late 2/early 3. I’m just not one of them.
That's what I figured. I assumed he was just going to be like a gadget FB of special teams guy. He doesn't have the giddyup to make an impact anywhere

Some of the ND kids went but pretty much none of the other kids from other schools went that played longer in the playoffs this year. So that’s kind of another newer wrinkle that probably will have some talent not available for this event going forward.

i think we need a Manningcast SB lol

speaking of Mannings...was Archie any good?

Archie was always looked upon as a great QB who, if given a team with even a modicum of WR talent, would have been classed with the Grieses, Tarkentons, and Stablers. He never had any talent around him, save for Tony Galbreath, who set an NFL record for most catches by a RB in a game with 14, and retired in the mid-late 80s with the most catches and yards by a RB in NFL history. RB Chuck Muncie was also on the team in the mid-late 1970s but largely underperformed except for 1979 and eventually went to the Chargers where he had more visible success.

Archie Manning was one of those QBs who was viewed as a victim of circumstance whose team was managed so poorly he never really got a chance to experience the cycle a bottom feeder eventually realizes in achieving success through drafts and trades. The Saints only finished as high as second place in their division once during his tenure as their starting QB.

Call me crazy but Milton is the most important re-sign of the offseason. People will say Baun, and I wouldn't blame them

I guess the question really is, do you think you can/already have Milton's replacement on the line?

Can Ojomo be a reasonable fill-in to go along with Davis and Carter?

If so, Milton can be let go even though I have *no* desire to see him leave.

Yep, I'll say Baun, and it's not about the relative value of LB vs. DL, or any slight to Milt, it's that the step down from Milt to Ojomo/Davis is significantly smaller than that from Baun to the vast gaping maw where players are supposed to be, coupled with Howie's known predilection for drafting, and drafting quite well, at DL, whereas he's been largely deficient at drafting LB, Dean falling into our laps notwithstanding.

I believe in Ojomo, but you can never have too many D line options, especially in this system which relies so heavily on non-blitz pressure

There's an argument to be had that Dline is more important than MOF coverage right now.

Howie loves drafting DL though and if that's his plan, so be it. But it better hit

Need the contracts to have the discussion. I'm not giving Baun the Fred Warner contract, but I have no idea what he wants. I'm guessing someone is going to give Milton Williams something like 5/125. Or more. With high guarantees.

Chiefs are officially wearing white. The Eagles, as the home team, get to select which jerseys they wear so they'll seemingly be wearing Midnight Green.

There's a rule against wearing Alternate's in the Super Bowl but the Rams found a loophole/exception in their two recent Super Bowls which allowed them to wear something different. Not sure the Eagles would push the issue for Kelly Green anyway.

I'm thinking Baun will land on 3 years, 36 million with 15 in guarantees - but we'll see eh

Milton...I just have a bad feeling Howie will bet on himself to replenish Milton's output, which is probably the wise thing to do. We draft DL well, and we need to think about what money will be free when Carter's contract is up for extension.
