Other Sports: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): THIS IS BRAZIL (Start Of 2024 Regular Season)

i think we need a Manningcast SB lol

speaking of Mannings...was Archie any good?
Didn't play much, was OK early in the season when he had to come in for a couple games, but basically just sat and learned. Really good athlete, got his uncle's bodies with his granddaddy's speed. Was used as a wildcat in short yardage.

He'll start this fall, will probably stay three years because of NIL money and his uncles' advising him that he'll go to a shit team so get as much experience as you can before you get thrown into the fire. He'll get great training, Texas' offense might be more sophisticated than some NFL teams.

Need the contracts to have the discussion. I'm not giving Baun the Fred Warner contract, but I have no idea what he wants. I'm guessing someone is going to give Milton Williams something like 5/125. Or more. With high guarantees.
I like Milton, but playing next to Carter makes his life much easier.
Howie's been stashing guys on the PT.

I think Sweat walks, good pass rusher but no coverage skills, I think they'll gradually move away from these types and more toward Smith, Hunt et al, edge rushers who can move to 3-4 OLB and allow you to show different looks pre-snap and drop guys into coverage and send a LB through the A gap.

Might draft a DT, but if Warren lasted that long I'd jump on him.

If you mean Granddad, he was a pesk. Very agile, smart with a good arm, playing on bad teams, having to make something out of nothing on a regular basis. I thought he was smaller, but listed at 6'3 212. Got beat up playing on NO, on a good team probably would have had a much longer career.

Jack (Jake the snake) Plummer was a lesser version, except when he played the Eagles.

But the prototype was Fran Tarkenton, had eyes in the back of his head, extended players longer than any QB I've ever seen.

It's harder for these types of QBs these days because DL and LBs are so much more athletic.
Good example was Nolan Smith running down Daniels.

As far as resigning guys, Becton is a guy I’m hoping wants to be with the coach that revived his career in Stoutland, just like Baun and Fangio. Josh Sweat is gonna be a tough decision. And in the near future, Slay is going to slow down, is there a way to keep Rodger’s until he can replace Slay while Quinyon becomes CB1. Thankfully we got Howie

They really need a change in regime in Dallas. Look at what did for Washington this year.

This isn't even the first time he's done that. Apparently it's an old mining term. But...yeah.

I'm thinking Baun will land on 3 years, 36 million with 15 in guarantees - but we'll see eh

I’ve seen people throwing out contract comps that I just don’t think are realistic like JOK. Patrick Queen got 3/41 (14 Guaranteed) and the reporting at the time was that he took 4-5 less per year to go to Pittsburgh. Queen was a 2nd team All Pro with a bunch of subpar ones before that, so in that way he’s a good fit. But he is a couple of years younger. Baun just made the First Team All Pro. This is a completely different animal than most players. Those guys never hit the market.

I’m concerned that he ends up closer to Roquan Smith (5/100) than even Queen. There are ~half a dozen good Off Ball Linebackers in the whole league and a lot of cap space out there. Washington for example…

Might draft a DT, but if Warren lasted that long I'd jump on him.

I’d be all for it too. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. This 1st round is not deep.

Man, live I thought he stepped OB, but the camera don't lie. Hell of a catch by Devonta.

Already paying 3 OL big money in 2025. OG is a position teams will let hit free agency. Not dissimilar to the Lions letting Jonah Jackson hit the market as an OG. Had to pay Sewell, as well as Decker and their C. Guard is where Becton should stay. Can swing to OT if needed but he seems a better fit at Guard.

My hope is with my numbers is that he'll find the difference somewhere between top money and ST money considering he's a 28 year old LB who's had 1 year of (albeit massive) success.

Hoping the above is factored in to level-out any bonkers numbers, and acknowledgement that maybe Fangio specifically has given him the vehicle to be this effective. So maybe he gives a bit of a discount considering both factors.

Let's hope! Usually Howie lets LBs just walk, so this is new territory in many ways right!? :DD

Well boys, looks like we are losing kellen Moore to the saints.......and just before the superbowl het again.....so distracted coordinator, been there done that, id really like to try something out of the box, I'd really like them to bring in Mike Denbrock from Notre dame, he does a great job calling plays, and does extremely well with dual threat qbs, which is wild since he originally started off as a tightend coach, but has a really good playbook
