It really seems to me that telling a 7 ft, 270 lb man with little or no cartilage left in his knee, whose job is to run up and down hard wood floors for 30+ minutes 82 (lol) games a year, to essentially “just play through it”, is borderline malpractice. I hate to make statements like this since I’m not a doctor, but if it’s bone on bone then I think the only reasonable option is some kind of reconstructive surgery. I don’t know the details of what Lonzo had but it seems like Embiid is going to need either something like that or a total knee replacement. I mean, this is basically what turned Joe Namath and Bobby Orr into virtual cripples as young men.
