After Joel did his invisible man act in games 6 and 7 against Boston two years ago, I was adamant he should be traded then as they would never get close to an NBA finals with him. Hellen Keller could have saw this. Instead they decided to extend him. You get what you deserve.

You reap what you slow...I mean sow

What kind of knee surgery is going to fix his knee though?
There isn’t one. He’s having surgeries you have when you’re 70. And they can’t put a team together that can be good without him.

Harden was the last chance. It was time to burn down when that failed. Now they’re stuck Paul George too.

If there's a torn meniscus they remove the loose piece, same thing he's had before. Obviously there's only so much you can remove but if it's not too much he could still play. Novak Djokovic had meniscus surgery and he's still a top 5 player in the world. And he's 37 years old. He wasn't even wearing a brace or a compression sleeve at this year's Australian Open. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Embiid's knee is in worse shape than Novak's.

Djokovic repaired his meniscus, as in they sewed it back together. This is a much longer recovery period, but offers a better long term outlook. This is what McCain got done

Embiid got what you described done. They shaved off the torn part of the meniscus. This risks partial recovery because you have removed some meniscus, but sacrifices less rehab time.

We knew exactly this was a risk from the very moment we found out what surgery was performed last season

You’re wrong about Djokovic. For one thing, he injured the knee at the French Open but recovered from the surgery in time for Wimbledon, which was only about a month later. Even for arthroscopic surgery that’s a remarkably quick turnaround. I don’t think there’s any way he could have been back that quickly if it had been a repair rather than a removal. And in this article, he specifically said that the torn piece was removed: Djokovic says recovering from surgery in time for Wimbledon 'right at top' of achievements.

I know quite a bit about meniscus removal since I’ve had it done myself. You’re never the same again (even Djokovic won’t be but then he might not play that much longer anyway) but you can still perform if they don’t remove too much. And most likely he’ll end up with arthritis and possibly knee replacement surgery (I maybe be looking at that even though I would like to avoid it) later in his life.

Huh, from the articles I saw it said "repair". Obviously that doesn't confer a month long recovery lol, I'd say you're right that he got it shaved down instead. Presumably articles written by people that don't realize the terminology is very specific.

Either way, it seems like we both know the difference here. And that means we both understand Embiid is probably toast
