You mean to tell me that Morey's old slow vets are old and slow? That's never happenedEvery time I saw Lowry on the floor (12 minutes), he did less than nothing and the Hornets started rallying. He reeks, and Nurse can’t get out of his own way there.
KJ + Yabu + Bona cobbled together >>>> Drummond. A not so unpredictable thing.

Nick Nurse, another Morey guyWho do you think acquired Bona, Yabusele, KJ, RCIV, Maxey, and McCain?
It’s not worth griping about league minimum contracts. Drummond is the one I put on Morey with the limited cap space. His first stint was mythologized, and the fit is putrid with their shooting, and he still might be played off the floor against good teams. They desperately wanted him last deadline too. Seems a classic case of overcorrection from Paul Reed.
But Nick Nurse is giving them D+ coaching too many nights. McCain was cooking, and Nurse can’t find him minutes, but he finds Lowry minutes to start runs against. Little too Flyers-esque that injuries are boons.
Nick Nurse, another Morey guy
I'm not saying he is an F tier GM, but you'll hear no praise for me. He deserves plenty of credit for getting PG, wriggling out of Harden, acquiring Harden in the first place, and his drafting. To me, Morey understands the importance of getting "the guys" and I trust him to identify core pieces, but consistently falls short in the margin, supporting cast FA signings that have crippled this team in the playoffs (and rendered the bench rotation in regular season games a huge weakness). Yabu is extra annoying because that is EXACTLY the type of signing we've been missing through the "second round exit" seasons and of course, this is when we dug him up lol. That's not Morey's fault obviously
Long story short Morey could be way worse, but he also could be way better
And with the extension, it's toast. But ushering in the Maxey and McCain is at least a good start. He’s had a LOT of good moves, especially drafting. It’s just impossible to judge this team without an MVP form Embiid. If we never get that guy again, then it’s deck chairs on the Titanic.
Morey would cream his pants. PJ "Zeros" Tucker will finally be able to come back home. He plays hard in the playoffsDP wait until PJ Tucker gets bought out.
It's hard to continue to be back on the back end of a back to back. Maybe tomorrow we can start being back again. We're back to not being back
Yeah and PG wasn't back for the back half of the back to back which would have had us back to being back. If he's back tomorrow they might be backIt's hard to continue to be back on the back end of a back to back. Maybe tomorrow we can start being back again.
PG missed a total of 8 games last year, he played more games than any Sixers player (74 vs 70 for both Maxey and Harris). He averaged 22.6 pts/gm. Pretty decent for a "shadow". Unfortunately you're probably right about Embiid though. This was like watching the process team, young, gutsy but not good enough.
However, instead of stashing a bunch of draft picks by taking on bad salaries and building for the future, Morey has doomed this team with two huge contracts to duds, George is a shadow of himself who can't stay healthy, and Embiid will never get through a season (much less a playoff run).
Ironically, if Hinkie had drafted this well he'd still be running things and they'd be a powerhouse.
It's insane that anyone would be against extending Embiid. To review, league MVPs get indefensible contracts while the Flyers smear cliches on everything and call it culture, but that’s great. The worst thing about sports is the fans.

Let's imagine Morey sights the injury risk as why he doesn't re-sign him. Now imagine the knee holds up. Imagine.
If those contracts went to the George and Embiid of five years ago . . . Sixers would be favorites. To review, league MVPs get indefensible contracts while the Flyers smear cliches on everything and call it culture, but that’s great. The worst thing about sports is the fans.

But from what I've seen of George this season, he's a shadow of himself.
34 years old, here's his GP last five seasons, 48, 54, 31, 56, 74.
You give him a huge contract for age 34-37? Nuts.
He was very good in the 2020-21 playoffs, but that was 4 years ago, he can't do that anymore.
Last year in the POs he basically gave a prime Tobias Harris (28-29) performance.
And Embiid, he's cooked. Those knees are going, even if he makes it to the playoffs, what's the over/under on how many games he plays? This team isn't good enough for him to be Willis Reed.
Now they're f----d. Can't move either player, and their contracts mean you can't bring in young FAs, and they traded a bunch of draft picks. The next 3-4 years are going to be mediocrity with no way out.
