Hagg isn't very good. Morin is looking like a bust and I don't know enough about Myers to really comment.

That is not very true. He just had a pretty good debut AHL season where he was the go to PKer and shut-down Dman facing the opponents best players night in, night out... while also getting virtually no PP time. They are basically preparing him for his future NHL role... he is not going to be getting big PP mins on the Flyers with the other D we have coming.

He is never going to be a ~40+ point NHL Dman (heck, probably never goes past ~30). But he seems on track to being a good shut-down 2nd pairing guy with immense physical skills (absurd strength+skating) who is hell to play against.

He is also probably on track to being an NHL full-time by the start of next season.

Kap should help with your lack of LW prospects. Kap can play LW and can+likes to use his sick wrister off the wrong wing.

Konecny, Lindblom & Aube-Kubel can all play LW too. (In fact Lindblom & Aube-Kubel played all last year there, but are equally comfortable at RW. Konecny played a bit in Sarnia last season.)

But even if Kapanen was a full-time LW I would not trade Morin or Myers for him... risk vs. reward is just not there.

Meh, Kapenen probably has more value than any of thiose guys. Just think he could have been playing in junior last year, if he did, he would have been one of the best players in the CHL and would be held in much higher esteem.

I'd be willing to move him for a d-man, but I'd want it to be part of a trade for a better prospect. All three of those guys would be a best our 4th or 5th best defensive prospect.

The best way of looking at it for me is basically:

Since their draft year Oskar Lindblom & Kasperi Kapanen have performed at a similar level. Both were considered potential 1st rounders coming into their draft year... they performed at similar levels in U16 & U17 & U18 international levels leading up to the draft too. Lindblom fell due to concerns over his skating that have now evaporated. It would seem from the evidence we have since then that they are in fact similarly talented players, though with different skill-sets. Both have a realistic ~2nd line ceiling and project as middle sixers.

Would we give up Lindblom over Morin & Myers... yes.
Would we give up Lindblom over Hagg... no.

Even if Kapanen is eventually an odd man out, he's not worth trading at this point in his development. Much rather we a) see if he can be a core player b) develop him into an expendable but good NHLer so we can get something of more substance and more of a sure thing for him.

Lol. Since being drafted, Morin has:

Made WJC
Finished 4th in QMJHL D for PPG
played 1 year of AHL and finished on the top pairing

Not sure how you describe bust....but that isn't it. Hextall is allowing our D prospects to develop properly. The result? Let's see how they did this year:

Ghost: NHL Rookie of the Year runner up
Provy: CHL Dman of the year
Sanheim: best PPG in WHL by a Dman in 20 years
Morin: top pairing in AHL as a rookie
Myers: QMJHL season ending All Star team
Friedman: WCHA season ending All Star team
Hagg: only top D prospect who did not have a good year

Philly will just keep who they hit and let them push each other to be great.

Is that supposed to be some sort of joke? Both Myers and Morin are fighting to be the 3rd best defensive prospect on the Flyers, a team which arguably has the best crop of defensive prospects in the entire league. And the only reason they are that low is because we have Sanheim and Provorov.

The fact is , Toronto and Philly make potentially good trade partners if not now, down the road...Toronto with all those juicy nice young forward prospects and Philly with all those juicy D man prospects....

Just because you have 2 d prospects that are better than any of our d prospects, doesn't mean we don't have guys better than your 3 and 4.

I'd drop over dead if Hextall traded Myers or Morin for Kapanen. Hagg is whatever, I'm indifferent to trading him. I don't think most people realize what a killer prospect Philippe Myers is, though.

You don't know enough about any of them to comment.

I personally like Myers the most but Morin is very close to him. I do think Hagg is the odd man out. Not sure why I put him in the OP.
I also suggested Kap because his Dad played for Philly

I have to disagree. While I'm not the authority on Philly prospects I believe Myers shows more offensive ability than Morin. That's not to say I believe he'll be a better NHL defenseman. I believe they both bring strengths to the table. The Flyers have no one in development with Morin's upside on what he does best.

I'd do Hagg but would hold on Morin and Myers. As already proven by other members in no way is Morin a bust , What he does best plays at all levels.
If I were in Toronto's camp I wouldn't do Kap-Hagg straight up.

Roflmao at Kapanen. His value is close to negative with his lack of development. I get that adjusting to pro game can take time. However Even against his age group he has been a huge disappointment in international tournaments.

Just because Kap is behind Mathews, marner, and nylander doesn't mean we are going to trade him for a prospect of lesser value
