He had a limited skillset, but he did what he did extremely well. Great in close and a beast on the powerplay. Averaged 32 goals and 58 points over the last two seasons while playing very limited Ice-time. He priced himself out of Toronto (especially if the Leafs are gunning for Tavares), but if the flyers got him for reasonable term and price (say 6million x 5years) then he can be a very solid contributing piece to a contender.
Yea thank god you lost the fella that scored 1 less goal than that Tavares guy.Thank god it isn't the Leafs. He gets anything more than 4 years Philly will regret it. And looks even worse if they let Simmonds walk.
Overall play suddenly does not matter.Yea thank god you lost the fella that scored 1 less goal than that Tavares guy.
Maybe Simmonds is traded for a dman now?

Don't you guys have tons of cap space? The only way this makes sense is if Simmonds is traded. Having said that, JVR will probably age better than Simmonds and Simmonds should bring back a first and a decent prospect. No way they can have two one dimensional support wingers making $14-15M.
What good Dman is available?Doesn't really make sense to me. Philly should have spent it on a good defenceman.
That is a lot of term and money for JVR. I like him and think he is a valuable specialist on a team but if that is what the Flyers offered him, I am glad the Leafs walked away.7x7 is my guess.
Philly fans will say the same thing Toronto fans say. He is a great offensive players, but when hes not scoring he is extremely frustrating to watch.
Hopefully whoever is on his line helps to keep him from becoming too much of a passenger.
That's the deal that scares me as JVR's agent will point to that. I am hoping somehow it's a better team deal....but I am not sure how that's possible.
