Was he really bad these last couple seasons in terms of his overall performance/athleticism or did he not fit the Torts model of coaching?

He was terrible last season, but it likely has something to do with the neck injury that caused him to miss the entire previous season.

Tortorella loved him though and continued to over play him when it was pretty obvious he couldn't play
