That’d be true if you honestly believe we should finish the year with the 2nd worst PK and 4th worst powerplay. I think it’s pretty absurd to believe so, as there are plenty of more hapless teams in either regard than the Flames. For the same reason those stats aren’t ranked that low this season as they would’ve last, stats like those tend to normalize as the season goes and cold stretches and hot stretches hold less value.
Could also say without a bad bounce or two we win those games in OT and shootout (which is ironic, considering we literally lost to Boston off a bad bounce), and even are 9-5-1 to start the year. Random events don’t only favor your view point.
Our PK is surprising but than you consider we lost 3 of our 4 best PK guys. Tanev, Hanifin, Lindholm. And we can’t win a draw which is a huge detriment.
Our goaltending has been excellent and I don’t think we can expect them to be great the whole season.
Our schedule has been microwaved butter soft.
Our PP might get a little better but it just doesn’t have the horses to be any better than 20-25th.
We’ve won a ton of games we’ve been trailing in late.
When we play bottom feeders, it’s usually a close game.
All signs point to this team being really bad.
