Hayes and Othmann were the overtime heroes so they got all the praise but Avon was hands down the Petes best player. Opened the scoring with one heck of a shot and was unstoppable all game long. I think he had the puck on his stick for like 30 seconds on one PK shift. Impressive. Great game by Zanetti, too. Game 7 between Peterborough and North Bay tonight.

Avon had a good rookie camp which got him signed as a UFDA.
Has good speed with a frame that should fill out, if he keeps improving his skill package, has a shot as a solid bottom six candidate.

Not Avon's best game. Also took two very dumb penalties. Zanetti not nearly as good as last game as well but they combined for the potential game winner in game 7. Peterborough up 3-2 with 8mins to go in the 3rd.

Remained the game winner. 3-2 Petes. Avon (game winning goal) 1st star, Zanetti (2 assists) 2nd star. Series vs London starts Thursday. Expect both Zanetti and Avon to get lots of ice time. Peterborough was down a forward and a defenseman ahead of this game and they lost one each during it. Avon's linemate Tommy Purdeller and captain Shawn Spearing are veteran players and tough losses if they can't play Thursday.

There's a hockey player named Spearing???

Thanks for sharing. I've seen several Petes games this year, vs. Hamilton on cable, and Avon looks like an interesting prospect. Great wheels, good instincts, kills penalties well too. Zanetti has promise too, moves well, big and strong, jumps into the rush. Fingers crossed, Flyers fans...

Does he grrrrrrrriind though? If not, Fonzie will have no use for him. Ask Olle Lycksell.

We'll see. Once he finishes his year of service. Right now if I'm Fedotov, I'm making nice.

I do love the Petes, always have, but I refuse to give in to false hope.

I think there's a chance for them, as much as any other mid level prospect.

May as well forget about Fedotov until after Putin's funeral.
So he'll be here for training camp? I heard Vlad is heading up to the 22nd floor for tea soon!

Yep. Lycksell looked pretty good to me. NHL speed and decent skill. If he had only fought!

Lycksell looked good to you? In the AHL (though he ran hot and cold) but not in the NHL.
Foerster looked much better at the NHL level. Not even close.

Right now Lycksell looks like a "tweener" to me, not skilled enough for the top 6, not strong enough or feisty enough for an "energy" line role. But one reason to give players cameos is to give them a first hand feel of the difference between the NHL and the AHL. So we'll see how he looks in camp.
