I give it 1 more year and Rielly, and maybe Gardiner will be top pairing on the Leafs. Too bad by then it'll be too late to get rid of Phaneuf and that contract

If it is up to Carlyle Gardiner would be gone.

I hope both nonis and carlyle are gone before Gardiner

Maybe Sutter wasn't as bad of a GM as we thought he was....

Well he was involved in some lock room disputes as well (Regehr?) along with poor on ice performances so he was obvious one to go considering his contract. At least he not a locker room issue in Toronto. Unless you are to believe Aulie and then later on Schenn was traded for not getting along with Dion.

Reilly I could see but Gardiner no. I have never seen a Dman take more chances than Gardiner.

I haven't been as high on Gardiner as most, but he's a left instead of right turn away from being that good on a consistent basis. He might never make that adjustment, but at least he isn't 28 and still waiting for it.

I have nothing wrong with Phaneuf. The problem is he's a low end #1 D on a team with an awful D corp.

I'd like to see a trade for a real good stay at home then next year have:

Phaneuf - Gunnarson
Reilly/Gards - guy we trade for
Reilly/Gards - Gleason

A guy like Methot would be perfect but theres no way Ottawa letting him go. Ottawa got Methot for Foligno and a 2nd, hopefully Nonis can find a team willing to let a guy like him go.

He's had a tough season but in my opinion he's been one our best players in the past 15 games.

That is no different than what we have now. An average #2 and a pretty good #4 on a top pairing. The bigger problem we have is no money to spend to upgrade the defense. What you see is basically what you get

Carlyle is running a stupid system where PMDs have no place on the team. All the passes are friggen stretch passes to the forwards that are already cheating.

Second,
Gardiner makes a mistake he gets benched

Phaneuf or Franson make mistakes they get to play 1st unit PPs

Agreed. Typical Leafs fashion is they'll keep him as long as possible and tell people that he's great and hope we believe it.
Typical Leaf fans will believe it by the end of the season. Then, they'll be calling him a Norris contender next year.

It's standard to dupe Leaf fans.

He has the IQ of a peanut. This team is filled with low IQ players, Clarktard, Raymond, Orr and Phaneuf are prime examples; with Phaneuf being their poster boy.

You guys are ridiculous. He's clearly been playing hurt and has been great up until these last stretches of games.

:amazed:

You just ignore facts. Look at the fail throughout his career. The last 3 years of fail in YOUR city have been biblical

Stop defending Failneuf

Gardiner is okay. Not good defensively but he's a PMD type and might improve the PP. Him and Reilly are their main PMD and after that, it's just slugs that cannot play the position at all. I would keep those two and totally clean out the rest of their dmen. Edit: Well, Gunnarsson isn't good or bad but he's not the problem. Okay, Reilly, Gardiner and Gunnarsson - so, get three new dmen. If the Leafs don't do this, they won't be any better. Gleason, Franson, Phaneuf and Ranger (sorry, but he has to go, too - glad he's okay) should be let go (traded/released/waived etc). They need to revamp the D.
