Great to see the offense score so many. Hard to believe if anything. Unfortunate to allow so many goals though. Richie with his first hat trick? Great job.

Feel bad for Kreider. Torts clearly has him on his **** list. Gaborik got the same treatment. It's sad cause he'll likely go to another team and light it up for them.

Don't know why Pyatt is still on the 3rd line. He's been ****ing terrible the last couple of months... If you're gonna bring up Kreider, play him with real NHL talent (subjective) with Richards and Zucc. Playing with Powe and Asham for 6 minutes a game won't help him.

Some of you guys on here are ridiculous and just need to be happy with the win, look at the big picture here. They won two games they needed to win on back-to-back nights.

While I disagree with putting the 4th line on the PP, I also disagree with the fact that this represents Torts disrespecting Hank. And there's no way that Hank allowing one more goal will "cost him the Vezina." Give me a break, one more goal allowed will not significantly alter his GAA and save percentage.

Be happy with the win and move on, stop nit-picking and finding ways to criticize Torts. He receives no credit when we win.

The only issue I have with using the 4th line on the powerplay is that our powerplay isn't good enough that we can just relax. When we have an opportunity we should take it just so we can try and improve and get better at it. But other than that given we were up like 4 goals I don't have an issue with it - the 4th line should get a lot of time in a game like this since the result is known and we don't want to risk injury. I also would have taken Lundqvist out when we went up 5-0 but that's another story and not something I expect any coach to actually do.

I did have an issue with Nash being out on the PK when we were up 6-0 though. That is just completely unnecessary. We should not be putting him in situations where he's going to be tempted to block shots particularly when we have the game well in hand.

Considering the status of the game (being up big) and being the second of a back-to-back, I'm fine with putting the 4th line on the PP. Rest up our primary lines, lessen the risk of injury. Didn't have much to lose by doing so.

That's because the team wins/loses despite Torts. Our defense has been all over the place this year. We have barely controlled the neutral zone. We are weak along the boards and with our forecheck. Less and less players are committing to the ridiculous "throw your body in front of the puck" sentiment.

He's getting less credit this year because he deserves less credit. The team starts slow and the team's play is clearly not an indication of the system he supports.

The theory that Torts was disrespecting Hank is quite narrow minded on its own. It was 8-3. No need to drive up the score even more. He's got to protect his players, running up the score could have potentially warranted Buffalo's enforcers to take runs at our players. If we had scored and someone took a run at Nash or Step and injured them for the rest of the season, this fan base would skewer Torts for not putting the 4th line out. With some people on this board, you just can't win.

But as for your "stop finding ways to criticize Torts" sentiment... the list is endless. His system is idiotic, in my opinion. He employs little-to-no logic when making decisions. He constantly meddles with lines, especially (it seems like) when they are beginning to work. And he's too stubborn for his own good.

He's a good guy. Perfect for a team of under achievers that need motivation. But we're past that stage now and he either can't or refuses to adapt to his current roster.

When an elite goalie is half-way to a shutout, you don't pull him. THAT'S disrespectful to your best player. We live and die with Hank, so when we are up by 6, we all of a sudden get cocky and say we don't need you anymore Hank? That's not how it works. Maybe when Kel Varnsen gets back from behind the bench in Buffalo he can explain to us why he put the 4th line on the ice. Great game.

When we are up by 6 we don't need him...The only reason they don't pull him there is the typical coaching reasoning of something illogical that is basically "That's how it's always been" or "It's just not what you do." (this is the logic baseball managers love to use when questioned on why they have to save their closer to come in up by 3 in the 9th instead of say bringing them in in a key spot in the 7th with the bases loaded where you absolutely need outs. Or when they refuse to use them in extra innings on the road until they get a lead - because according to Jerry Manuel "That's just not what you do."

We were up 5 2 minutes into the 2nd period. He was not close to a shutout. It's not like it was late in the 3rd.

If your options are
1. Leave him in a blowout with 30-40 minutes left in the game so he might get a shutout but also risks the chance of injury for the most important player on the team in a game that is in the bag (Oh, and also on a day where he played the night before)

2. Take him out to make sure he stays healthy and gets some time off while risking a chance you "disrespect" the most important on the team who knows he is the top guy

2 is by far the better option. It's like by taking him out he's all of a sudden going to completely lose his confidence and be unable to play or lash out and demand to be traded. It's just the smarter decision in terms of the long term health and ability of the team.

I am probably the biggest anti Torts guy on here, but I must admit putting the 4th line out on the PP was the right thing to do. Classy and also a nice little motivator for the guys playing limited minutes. They seemed a bit surprised and never sustained any pressure, almost giving up a goal, but this is what the PP has looked like all year so I see no difference. I also see no reason to blame Torts for Ashams penalty ( which was iffy IMO) and do not think he hung out Hank to dry. He might have pulled Hank after 2 periods though, but there are a lot of things we simply do not know here...
