Post-Game Talk: PGT: Rangers @ Sabres 4/19/13

After going up 6 - 0 it is incredibly difficult not to relax and slack off a bit. Winning by 4 is still amazing.

Putting the 4th line on the PP up 5 goals is an unwritten rule, much like not punching an opponent when they fall to the ice. It's the "Fighters Code".

Unwritten rule almost cost Torts' team 2 goals and did cost 1 and maybe a Vezina for the goalie that's only reason that POS still has a job. Completely threw his life-line under the bus with that move. Unwritten rule my ass. Bill Belichick puts his starters on the field up 40 points in the 4th quarter. Torts can't put his regular PP on the ice with like 3 minutes to go in the game? If for no other reason than to prevent shorthanded chances and not take stupid penalties? Why respect the opponent when they score after you show this class?

Rangers eliminate Flyers and some still want to fire the coach. Too funny because it is the Flyers coach who is a walking dead man. Our coach is here to stay. Nice win team!

There are bigger things than winning by 5 instead of 4. These are the kinds of things that make hockey great.

Football isn't hockey. The unwritten rule exists in hockey. Who cares about your comparison? It has no place here.

The fact that you so proudly say that this POS that doesn't even respect the only reason that he has a job is "here to stay" makes me want to vomit.

Are you seriously equating Lundqvist being human and giving up questionable goals and Torts consciously throwing him under the bus?

No we were up by a lot. Since it was nearly impossible to lose, torts rewarded his 4 th line by putting them on the PP. I understand hank has pulled this club for most of his career but it isn't all about him.

Yeah hockey, where you see ******** like Kaleta almost paralyze Brad Richards and where you see guys fight because of clean hits is too classy to have your regular PP unit out on the ice with 3 minutes to go. You have ******** on many teams give hits that might end players' lives, but G-d forbid a team wins 9-3 instead of 8-3 (I won't even count the goal Buffalo scored). Seriously this mythical belief by NHL fans that the NHL is some classy league needs to stop. It's a fantasy.

From what I've seen, the 4th line isn't really all that great in their own zone. Respecting your opponent is fine, but at least put out a line that won't hurt the team, ya know?

... and yet, we saw evidence of class shown by one coach to another team just tonight. Get off your horse, buddy. You aren't riling anyone up but yourself.

What has the 4th line done this whole season to be rewarded? Played hard? Whoopti-****ing-do. They're professional athletes making a lot of money (even as 4th liners). It's WAY more about Lundqvist than a bunch of 4th line scrubs. Torts spit in Lundqvist's face today and then took a big **** on him.

Going by what he's done in the past, he could have had those.

Torts could have pulled him when the game was 6-0. Would have given Lundy a much needed breather.

How do we know Tortorella didn't ask Lundqvist what he wanted to do? Lundqvist easily could've said he wanted to stay in. Beyond that, the skaters aren't the only guys who lose focus in a blowout. Goalies do too.
