He's a tough one for me to gauge. I love his attitude and obviously playmaking skills. He also has some ability to score on the rush or in close on the goalie. Extremely agile and uses quick cuts to get open space in the o zone.
Doesnt seem to have the strong wrister that, say, Cozens has who can rip it from the top of the circle on a rush and put it in the net. Also, he obviously needs to add strength. I appreciated his willingness to battle in the dirty areas, but a lot of times he'd just get rag dolled. His most glaring issue is consistenly making the simple plays to move the puck up the ice or keep the puck in the o zone. Or, God forbid, an ugly turnover in the d zone. We've all shook our heads a few times at the dumb passes he'll make. Shit you only see in beer league, but he's a young playmaker, so he gets extra slack on the leash to learn what he can and cant get away with.
He screams boom or bust to me. If he cant simplify his game and continues to make boneheaded turnovers, then Im not sure he'll be in the league very long. Im pretty optimistic he'll become a good top-6 player, though. His will to compete, quickness, and playmaking skills are enticing as hell.
His max potential would likely be a similar calibre player as Briere, but Briere seemed to be a bit ahead of him at this point in their careers if I remember correctly.

Briere's stats were miles above Kreb's. 2.1 PPG in Juniors vs just under PPG for Krebs. Later he was 1.35 PPG in the AHL at D+2. It took him quite a while to really get going at the NHL level, he didn't hit his stride until D+6, but he was always standout in the A.
Briere only hit 70 points twice in his career. One of the best playoff performers in the cap era.
As a prospect Briere produced like a star but couldn't do so in Arizona.

For the AHL not terribly different. Briere was 4th in AHL scoring 1998 at 20 years old. Quinn was 3rd in PPG but missed a lot of time. Krebs hasn't played enough in the AHL to get a meaningful sense of his production there, it's consistent with an NHL player. His ppg was 30th this year.
QMJHL scoring in the late 90s was way higher so it's best to look at them relative to their peers: Briere was '95 3rd '96 1st, '97 3rd in scoring. Krebs was 41st his draft year and 1st his D+1.

Management will be patient but I'd be fine with him going to Rochester and not being the first call up.

He sucks. Dump him while other teams still think he has value. I never understood the hype around him. Fast ye. Everything else is mediocre. More AHL time isn’t gonna help in my opinion. Trade him for a rhd.

We have too many guys that are top six forward types. Having too much skill is a blessing, but we need some jam. We definitely could use a "Kolesar" type further down in the line up. Also, I just don't think Mittelstadt is good enough for 2nd line C. We definitely need an upgrade there. I'd move Mitts down to the third line, and try Krebs at the C. Or the answer is just Dylan Cozens.

It's too early to talk about his trade, but if we could get a good RD in the top 4, it could make sense. But this applies not only to Krebs, but also to other players.

A bit early to be giving up on a guy who turns 22 in January, and has talent.
Otoh, we've got plenty of forward depth, with more on the way. Trading some of that for more depth on defense makes sense, especially if Adams believes Ryan Johnson won't sign.
Somebody has to go to make that happen. Krebs and Oly seem like the most likely candidates to me.

Well it might not be just one Krebs, it might be part of the package.
It was always going to be a challenge to break Krebs, Quinn and Peterka into the line-up at the same time. There just are not enough top 9 spots available, particularly if you are serious about winning. Teams that are breaking in that many young players at once are generally not in win-now-mode.
I am not down on any of these players. We are seeing this year real-time examples of why fans should not give up on prospects too soon (Thompson and Mittelstadt). There is a no reason that Krebs (and Quinn or Peterka if needed) could not continue to develop playing top-line minutes in the AHL.
Just do what is right for the player and the organization. If one or more of these young guys gets sent to the AHL it will be a set-back for them, but no top-prospect should be written off at 21-22 years of age.

Truly don’t think Krebs has been put in a position to succeed at all. He doesn’t belong at LW and he doesn’t belong on a 4th line. He’s a playmaking center. Problem is we have 3 C’s ahead of him playing better. It does seem like he would be better served playing top C minutes in Roch and coming in as an injury replacement if Tage/Cozens/Mitts misses time.

He's a playmaker, but he hasn't done anything to show that he is a center at this level. At this point, shuffling him down to Amerks for consistent, big-minute time in the middle if that is what they want him to be. His time with KO and Girgensons hasn't really been playing d-zone center, Gus is regularly the guy who tracks deep and plays the defensive center role handling the responsibilities low in their own zone from what I'm seeing.
