Pretty hard to win games when you spend the 3rd playing to not lose instead of playing to win.
I hate it every time they lead going to the 3rd. You know they'll just ice it and/or pin it at the boards and have rugby scrums. Rob Wilson hockey. No attempt to win, just try not to lose and get the 1 point. Pathetic. 7 more years of this??

We almost always outplay the 67s but let them stay in games. The refereeing was bad again which didn't help the Petes. The 67s tying goal was on a PP and it was a bad roughing call against Mateicjek.
Reffing was evenly bad for both teams. They called that exact same roughing penalty against Ottawa after the whistle like 5 minutes before that. It was pretty clear they were just gonna take 1 guy from the scrums after the whistle going forward. Matejicek was fine until he pushed the guy down

It was pretty bad, Taylor hit in the face by Mayich, no call, hit Mayich in the pads "a whack you give your brother when you're playing road hockey" to quote commentary and it's instantly a penalty. Brady got tapped in the knee and suddenly forget how to stand.
Missed the Bowen one and the vod doesn't really have a good view of it but Foster somehow got slashed bad enough he had to go down but got out to the faceoff dot before going down?
Eshkawkogan crosschecks Young while he's down on the ice up near his face but it's not a penalty till he throws 3 more shots in while Young is still on the ice.

Hate the pin the puck to kill time plays as much as anyone else but when Ottawa does it in their end with time running down for 10+ seconds it's fine and let go, Petes then do it in their end for about 5 and it's blown down for a faceoff...

Sean Reid is one of the worst refs in the league. He was baiting Taylor to retaliate and he took the bait.

unfortunately the Petes basically gave this one to Ottawa. Ottawa’s first two goals were horrendous giveaways and undisciplined penalties lead to goals three and four. Switching to preserving the lead instead of playing like the first two periods sealed their fate. Winnable game given up.

The last 3 or 4 minutes most of the play was in the Petes end and Ottawa won all of the faceoffs, hence the winning goal. That should not happpen. I don't know what the stats say but the Petes are terrible on key faceoffs. That is a very important element of the game. Where is Owen Beck and Jacques Dubois?

As was said by Wilson and the players in the Examiner piece on yesterday's game, the Petes coughed up the puck in their own end a few times which led to a few goals including on the winning goal.

One of the earlier 67s goals , Mateicjek was alone in our end with three 67s players and put the puck right on the stick of the Ottawa player which led to a tic tac toe goal.

In the YOUR TV coverage Dalliday and Arnold focused mostly on the beauty passing by Ottawa's forwards on their goals but no mention of the Petes' mistakes leading to it. I get why they don't focus on the mistakes of these teenage players but sometimes you have to tell it like it is.

While I don’t see any moves happening at the deadline for this team - who are some of the young players Oke could target with picks?

I personally think the smart thing is to hang onto the surplus picks and turn them into future picks right before the draft so we do t have draft pick gaps in future years.

Any potential 05’s who would be an upgrade on what they have, another 06 would be ideal. I look at a team like Owen Sound who has 15 forwards on their roster maybe they would move someone out

'05 Declan Waddick LW, '06 Ben Cormier C, '06 Antonio Tersigni LW, and '07 Jake Crawford C would be the obvious key forwards I would be interested in from Owen Sound, but as you point out, nobody quite knows the availability.

Waddick is currently hurt(personally I'd pass) but Cormier is a change of scenery type and could be available potentially. I don't see Crawford going anywhere. Tersigni has 10 goals on the year on an offensively challenged team, they likely keep him.
