Rye played fantastic again but aside from him we did kind of deserve to lose that one. Could not string anything together offensively and had a few little offensive spurts but nothing sustained enough. 3/4 point weekend so that’s a BIG plus!

From Examiner, "Wilson said he’ll take three out of four points for a weekend especially considering it was their second game in two days with travel and Ottawa’s first but he didn’t think his team played up to the standard it has lately."

I'll add that the 67s look better than their record, not sure what is going on there, but they have some good players. 67s now have 9 consecutive road games between now and like January 9th, so talk about a gut test for them.

Do we think Pete’s will entertain any offers for McCallum off to tough start I believe still playing injured maybe time for a change of scenery?

Just looking at the import list and seeing if there’s a match to move Matejicek I wonder if Sudbury would be interested. They are pretty young on the left side other than Deangelis. They have an open spot and definitely could use another veteran on the back end and it wouldn’t cost them that much.

If we aren’t getting much back then is there really any point? Team is finally showing signs of improvement and the positivity and confidence from the wins is much more valuable for development than getting a late round pick for one of the leaders.

I do not think the Petes will trading Martin Matejicek unless they get an offer that allows them to add a player to help them in the future. They would not be trading him for a couple of mid round draft picks. The Petes are much improved in the last ten games and are not going to be trading any of their players unless it allows them to add assets to help now and in the next few years. I would have to think the goal is to win as many games as possible in the second half of the season not trade their veteran players.

I like your way of thinking

Define much. Would you trade him if the return was say a 4th and 6th? What would a deal have to be for you to consider dealing him?

Honestly I wouldn’t do it unless a 2nd and 3rd was coming back. He’s been a great leader on the ice and was a huge part in the last few wins.

Here’s the question I would ask- can you replicate him with an 06 or 07 with the return you get for him? If the answer is no then trading him is a no go for me.

Also, why on earth would we want to help out a team like Sudbury for cheap?

So you’d rather keep a guy who’s gone in 30 so games then get say a 4th and 6th or something along those lines? Bad asset management imo the petes need to stockpile as many picks as possible so when it’s their turn to go for it they have enough ammo to get the big fish

A deal like that would not be a benefit to the Peterborough Petes. With a return like they are better off keeping him to try to get as many wins as possible in the second half. The Petes are not going to trade their valuable players for only a couple of mid round draft picks.

;the petes are not going to trade michael simpson, they will not trade their valuable player for a few draft picks'

days later

the pets are not going to trade connor lockhat for a few draft picks.

days later

they wont trade the import d, no one wants imports and he plays too much.

on another note, owen sound may get more for just konnor smith then the petes got for both smith and mccue.

More than an 08 first and a third?

I don’t get this try and win as many games as possible thing this year lol. The season is a lost cause at this point if anything they should be losing as many as possible to get the best odds for the first pick and to get the first overall pick in the import draft.

The Petes owe it to their fans to be as competitive as possible and to win as many games as they can. It has been a tough eleven months and the fans have continued to support them with regular near sellout crowds. Peterborough has started to win at home on a regular basis and fans will be upset with another sell off of assets. The Petes are not in the same position as last year. They have restocked their draft pick cupboard and have added numerous younger players.

Removing Matejicek is not gonna impact the amount of games they win or lose. They have no 4th or 5th this year, no 2nd, 4th or 6th next season so the cupboard isn’t really as stocked as you may think

Hot take: Trade Jenken, keep Matejicek

I want Cameron, Ula, Gowan and Ladds in the lineup every night. and Strohack is a likely OA down the line when the team is competitive, so trading one or the other makes decent sense to me. London fans seemed to want Jenken on their roster for depth for playoff run.

Edit - the Jenken/Allen deal probably means not London but still, test the waters.
