Hot take: Trade Jenken, keep Matejicek

I want Cameron, Ula, Gowan and Ladds in the lineup every night. and Strohack is a likely OA down the line when the team is competitive, so trading one or the other makes decent sense to me. London fans seemed to want Jenken on their roster for depth for playoff run.

Edit - the Jenken/Allen deal probably means not London but still, test the waters.
Does Jenken even have value? He’s been mediocre this year. I doubt they deal him unless they get what they paid because that would be a bad look to deal the guy now and get less then what you paid for 5 months ago.

So you’d rather keep a guy who’s gone in 30 so games then get say a 4th and 6th or something along those lines? Bad asset management imo the petes need to stockpile as many picks as possible so when it’s their turn to go for it they have enough ammo to get the big fish
Bad asset management was trading a third for Jenkin and Bryant and picking an import pick that wouldn’t report. The Petes have two 2nds and two 3rds this coming draft. Oke needs to turn two of those picks into four picks in the future drafts. The season is a total loss obviously but do you know think having a more competitive team is going to help development?

If you can’t get a 2nd or 3rd then I don’t see trading him as a win.

Novotny will be here either after world juniors or next season and I don’t think losing Matejicek moves the needle to be more or less competitive if anything it opens up more playing time for a guy like Ula and others

Matejicek is incredibly crucial in recruiting Novotny. They can’t move him for that reason.

I can see that for sure. Should be a fairly quiet deadline then for the Petes don’t have much at all to sell

I think they could acquire a 05 who will be back next year that would be an upgrade on Page or Faulkner. Right now the 4 OA’s on the roster for next year would be Bowen, Jenken, Page, Faulkner. Bowen won’t be back and you could do a lot better then the other 3 imo

And technically it's not a be all end all that he is not coming after the World Juniors this year, since he may end up coming months later for the start of next season, but it would have been nice to add him into the fold now and have a talent like his asap

Zach Bowen and Nico Addy returning to the lineup tonight.
Brody Partridge appears to be the odd man out.
Petes moved to 15th in the OHL Power Rankings this week.

The games vs the 67s have been tight with both teams having the upper hand at different times in all games. Last night the 67s were beneficiaries of at least two questionable calls against the Petes one of which resulted in a PP goal for Ottawa. The 67s played well though and are surely missing Pinelli.

As for the Petes they continue to play strong defensively and are winning battles in both ends of the ice. Page's goal is the kind that we should be getting more often, a good result from hard work. Nice to see Bowen back , solid as usual. Not sure what happens to Johnston......Big test vs Kingston tonight before a well-deserved Xmas break,

Interesting that Novotny will be playing a pre-WJC game with Czechia today just down the road from where the Petes will be in Kingston tonight.
Czechia faces off against Latvia in Brockville at 4:00 today.

Nice to hear rumours about Novotny coming to Peterborough after the WJC, but in the long term it's in 25-26 and especially 26-27 that he needs to be wearing maroon and white. I'm hopeful that Novotny's experience at the WJC makes him realize how exciting and good for his development it would be playing in the OHL.

A good effort in Kingston last night but we were up against an older more skilled team. Just the same the refs again didn't help our cause. Heyes hit 16 year old Ula from behind and he goes head first into the boards and is injured. Merry Christmas. Heyes gets a 2 minute roughing call and then has the gall to complain about the call that would usually be a 5 minute penalty. Fitzgerald jumps into exact revenge on Heyes and gets a two minute penalty. Then 4 on 4 , Kingston scores right after. McCallum says something to the ref about what an idiot he is on the Heyes hit and McCallum gets a 10 minute misconduct.

I know you cant blame the refs for a loss but .....hopefully the Heyes hit in Ula is reviewable by the league at least?

Reid has to be one of the worst in the league. There was at least 7-8 blatant calls he missed against both teams but then would call a face off violation 😂
Ref did not even call a penalty on the Ula hit until after the scrum when Pete’s bench showed them the hit on the iPad and it happened right in front of Reid’s face about 3 feet from him.

There was also no call on the high stick on McCallum until Pete’s bench demanded it be reviewed.
