That was one of the best games they played this year. I'm not sure how much you can put on Rye, the first and third goals, he had very little chance on, the second was a bad bounce.
Regardless, if they play like that and lose the rest of the year, I can handle it. They pushed back, generated shots and offense and generally were more assertive and aggressive all game long.
A couple shout outs - Caden Taylor made two great defensive plays, coming back deep into his own zone, into traffic, breaking up a play and getting it safely out. I've been critical of his defensive game but he showed great commitment tonight.
McCallum made a few great plays to break up chances in the Petes end and create them in the other. The people here who want him traded or think he isn't a huge part of this core are out of their minds.
Aiden Young gets better all the time, he's the 07 forwards I have the littlest concern about and Genc Ula is going to be so good in a couple years.
It's probably not ideal for this to be the case given what it cost to bring in Addy, Taylor and Young but I'm not sure the strength of this team down the road isn't the 07/08 D - Cameron, Gowan, Ula and Ladds. Is that foursome maybe ahead of the future top 6 forwards - i.e. Fitzgerald, Young, Taylor, Addy, Levac?, Parish? in their progression and maybe even long term upside? Maybe it was always going to be that way on a Rob Wilson team.
