In one of the most anti-climactic competitions ever, @OMG67 vs @NorthernVoice , OMG67 picks up the 'W' as the Petes finish with the lowest GF over the last 30 games. NorthernVoice needed the Petes to outscore both NB and Ottawa by at least 10 goals over the last 30 games. They came up 23 goals short.

NorthernVoice must have missed the interview after the trade deadline where Rob Wilson said that the team would be tempering their offensive output for the rest of the regular season in order to save up some goals for the playoffs.

And BARRIE scored 140 over the same time period…. They were second half BEASTS! Clarke went off!

Examiner article prediction Sudbury in 7 . If that happens Pete's clean house with no coaching staff.
So with that thinking London should have cleaned house. Since last year they got upset by 7th place Kitchener in 1st round and year before in 2019, they got upset by 4th place Guelph in 2nd round?

The keys to the Sudbury series for the Petes from my perspective: The Petes need to grab early leads and keep going at them. If the Petes fall behind, I can see us taking some penalties which will cost us.

On the other hand Sudbury takes a lot of penalties as well so our PP is also a key. Defensively we have to keep an eye on Goyette and others as they play positionally well in the offensive end and like to make back door feeds.

Other than that our forwards have to tighten up our passing and make fewer errors entering offensive zone and in offensive zone. If we establish possession in their end we are dangerous.

Of course SImpson will need to be good and for some reason I think he will be dialled in.

Yeah I'm putting no stock into what Ken Campbell predicts if we are being real. This is a new season, not letting outside noise distract from the excitement of this team and playoffs. He also had Owen Sound knocking off London so like I said I think it's time to let the series' play out how they play out. That article changes nothing for me

As a Wolves fan big time really hoping for a good series but with average goaltending and absolutely no PP I am expecting a short series. Stillman will be under the watchful eye of our fans here and I only hope he is treated like a competitor and not booed. If this happens please be advised that this does not represent our true fan base.

Probably the biggest news of the night was that Peterborough Petes President Dave Pogue announced his retirement at the end of June. Thank you to Dave for his 7+ year tenure as President and looking forward to who is hired next. Pogue will still remain as an executive on the board of directors moving forward.

My comments have nothing to do with the GPS in and around Peterborough, but to an earlier segment related the highly valued tradition of the Petes' and the organization.
Looking at the start of the 21-22 season and comparing that to the roster of today's 22-23 team.
Of the 25 kids listed presently, 12 played a complete season last year, 11 are new to the team. 3 of these were in the teams draft picks in 22, and 8 were picked up LATE in the season.
My question is, How does a TEAM accept, mold and develop the culture of the TEAM in the last 1/2 of a season when there is such a large change in the team's makeup?
Your thoughts.

That is a big part of the underperformance based off the talent level on this team. They are genuinely trying to find and mold chemistry and now that its playoffs, you hope it is not too late. There have been significant changes to this team and with all the changes during the offseason, early season and then trade deadline, there is no question that this team is still trying to find itself with so many new faces brought in especially when you break it down the way you did there.

Now listen I am not making excuses and crying saying 'we are not here because of this or that or anybody' but if there is a time to find the stride and dig down deeper than ever before, that time is now.

I tend to be a “prove it” kinda guy. You gotta show something. I really don’t feel the Petes have shown they are in the lead group of teams. To me, they are with the 2nd tier teams.

For whatever reason, the Petes have not demonstrated the ability or willingness to reach further than their grasp. I don’t know why that is. They leave you wanting more.

It isn’t realistic to “expect” different results in the playoffs but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. You never know when the switch gets turned on.

Sudbury may be the perfect team to play. Strong enough to create adversity but not strong enough to present serious risk. Maybe a seven game series is what this team needs. Something to rally behind and find themselves.

Arguably, if there is a strong team to begin with, there is no need to make that many changes. I really don’t think anyone expected the Petes to feel the need to make that many changes. Performance necessitated change. The question is whether the changes made were the right strategy or should the changes have come in the leadership positions…. Aka coaching.

I’m an outsider looking in and from where I stand, the culture in this club is lacking in some area. The talent far exceeds the results and that goes for the team pre-deadline and post-deadline. So either the players are a bunch of wet blankets or the coach cannot motivate or develop a winning culture. I really don’t see any other options to pinpoint the problem.

I would think a seven game series would present a "serious risk".

I am looking at it from the perspective that if Sudbury pushes hard enough to light a fire under the Petes and they flip their switch, the talent will take them past Sudbury. If the fire doesn’t get lit under the Petes and they perform similarly to the regular season, then yes, there is a serious risk.

We need to remember that my point is based on the Petes underachieving this season. If they remain underachievers then it is what it is. What will happen, will happen.

Hey season ticket holders-did you get an email with the info regarding attending the playoffs?

I thought it would an email telling us to wear white or something -they encourage us to wear masks

Are we supposed to wear a certain colour or something?

Ya i got nothing in regards to colours or anything, just the regular stuff for regulations, precautions etc. I hope that we get to a point this playoffs where can do a 'white out' again like'05/06, would be really awesome

Peterborough Petes will have the 13th overall selection in this years draft. I initially had said 11 which would be true but I had forgot that both Niagara and Kitchener have two compensation first round picks.

The last time the Petes selected 13th overall was the 2000 draft where the Petes selected C Eric Staal

The Petes season after the trade deadline has been a disappointment. I expected them to finish no lower than third in the conference with the trades they made. The Petes added four players at the deadline and another in mid November and many of these players have underachieved as Peterborough Petes but in the last part of the season they started playing up to their potential. In my opinion there are a number of reasons for their slow start with the Petes. Different roles, adjusting to the different skill set of their new linemates from what they had on their former teams and in one situation putting to much pressure on themselve’s were all part of the equation. I think there was also an overall chemistry issue with the whole team.

Conor Lockhart who was acquired in the off season has played up to expectations. Chase Stillman who was acquired last season plays a strong two way game. The other player acquired last year, Jonathan Melee is a hard worker who can provide offence. In the weeks after the trade deadline they did not seem to come together as a team. I believe it was due in part to the fact that their was a huge change in the make up of the team and the pressure to win because of the changes made. In mid to late February the team had started to gel as a team but then injuries and illnesses became a factor leading to them going into a late season slump.

The playoffs are a whole new season. Most of the Sudbury Wolves players have never played in a playoff game, where as the Petes have several players with a vast amount of playoff experience and almost every player other than rookies have participated in at least a playoff series. I think the Petes will win their series with the Wolves and who knows what could happen in the second round with Ottawa.

Last time we played the Petes was when Todd was there in the 90's in a 7 game homer series. Went down on a fan bus for game 7. Pre renovations I would think. Haven't been there since the Scarbossa days. Lost in 7. Among the notables for the Petes were none other than Chris Pronger, Mike Harding and Jason Dawe to name a few.
IL be there Friday staying near the PMC. Would anyone be so kind as to tell me a good atmosphere to grab a bite to eat and a few pints afterwards. Cheers.
I think the last playoff series was in 2006 also under Dick Todd.
