I really don't get what many are saying here . Lavi hasn't lost the room . Drury has ! His handling of Trouba and Kreider and rumors of shopping Kakko as well are the obvious cause of our current woes. Drury has to go . It wasn't the last coach and it isn't this one. BUT JUST FOR FUN lets say that it is. So 2 different coaches that DRURY HIRED are the problem all in a span of less than 4 year ??? Drury can't determine and hire a good coach. FIRE DRURY !
Drury was given a mandate by the owner to stop rebuilding/retooling, etc. and start being competitive. there were only so many qualified candidates available. Drury is doing what he is told..
His trades are awful and timing on trades and depreciated value on players is hurting them...
But.. he is doing exactly what Dolan wants.

Both Gallant and now Laviloitte took this team 2 games short of the SCF.
Both are "win now" coaches, who favor vets over youth, every day and 2x on Sunday
Rangers imploded in the playoffs in Gallants 2nd year.
Rangers are falling apart now in Laviolette's 2nd year

You say the coach hasn't lost the room... well yeah all he does is play the vets.. no problem there.

They hate Drury... sure because he sees this core doesn't have what it takes, and if they don't raise their game, he's going to make their lives miserable.

Wasn't Gallant quoted "the NHL isn't a developmental league"?

Rangers should forgo high first round draft picks if they're going to hire coaches that expect entry level players to score 50g on the third line, their first year in the NHL>

You can't have it both ways... the rangers always think they can... how has that worked out?

So........Gallant is guilty of stating the obvious ?
I'm saying Gallant is the coach Drury wanted... a WIN NOW coach... just like Laviolette is.

This team has/had a mandate from management, carried out by Drury.. to be competitive and win now....

The vet makeup and talent level couldn't get it done... even with reinforcements... they got pretty close, but were never a SC caliber team... never!

No team is... until they win the Stanley Cup.

As much as you guys don't want to admit it, this team had a shot at it last year. Zib, Trouba, Miller, Fox, and Lindgren were particularly bad in the post season last year. If any of them played up to their previous level of play from just a year or two prior, the chances of them winning it all go up a lot.

At the end of the day, the SC caliber team is the one where the players step up and do magical things with the game on the line (like Kreider's hat trick against Carolina for example).

None of the players listed had that magic last year, despite playing well (sometimes extremely well) in previous years for this team.

i don't disagree with you.. but lets not kid ourselves either.. this team rode the powerplay and their goalie.. they couldn't generate offensive 5v5... when you get to the higher levels of this sport.. thats when you really see the teams shortcomings... as well as their supposed greatness

Panarin and Mika especially were huge playoff let downs when things got serious.

Their defense wasn't strong enough

He makes some of the most inexplicable roster decisions. I know we just had a bad outing against Carolina. But that was really just a bad third period. We have been playing well before the Miller trade. Instead of making the obvious decision and inserting Miller in Mika's spot and demoting Mika onto the third line. He nukes the lineup. WHY???!!!

refuses to hold vets accountable. mika still being trotted out there on PP1. and, of course, lindgren

not to mention all the players constantly whining and moaning to the media. that shit is on the coaching staff. it’s embarrassing and unacceptable for players to feel comfortable complaining to the media so openly. There’s zero program or structure.

And not only did he nuke the lineup. He played Mika and Panarin together, they have never been good together. He just cannot demote a core guy. Somehow he's done it with Kreider. But otherwise he plays these has been players top line minutes, like Mika, like Lindgren. It's as if he only understands the game from a reputational perspective. Like someone that never watches the Rangers play but has heard these names before and thinks they're good.

Its been time. What a piece of shit coach, just awful. Get rid of him Drury if you want any chance at salvaging something from the season.

if you’ve got multiple players who used to played for you coming out and trashing you in the media maybe you shouldn’t be on any coaching radars at this point

it fits with all the players on the current team basically doing the same thing!

When so many clearly talented players are playing below their talent level AT THE SAME TIME it is usually the coach.

BRING in an interim coach and see if he can turn this thing around.

This does two big things:

1. If he turns it around even a little it shows the biggest issue may have been a milquetoast coach

2. It also gives you half a season to see if he is the right coach for this team before commiting to him

By all means do, cos he is sucking, but the president’s trophy winning roster were travelling along at 12-6-1 till Drury pissed off the players. Lavi’s struggles are largely a consequence of that.
His inability to turn it around make him fireable, for sure and please please remove housley , but this surge of crap was down to drury v the players. Laviolette has just stood by and watched the shitshow his gm started and his players embraced

Firing him now will only allow the "core" to get away with axing their 3rd coach. f***-That-Shit.

Playoffs aren't happening with or with out a new coach. They were a fleeting pipe dream when they went on their little run but at the very least they're going to be 6 out after tonight and as many as 7 with 31 to go. They aren't making up that ground. They literally couldn't afford another extended losing streak and thats exactly what they're in the middle of right now. Any change made with the mindset of saving the season is dumb at this point. Let this group die. Even staying close will ensure that Wolfshit 55 continues to hang around and he'll ensure that they miss by himself.

Lavi shouldn't be back next year, but cut

Please replace him with someone under 50 who isn't going to buy into antiquated mantras and an "URRRNNN IT" mentality. David Carle would be wonderful but I doubt he would come here.
