He's playing the vets because he's coaching for his job.Hes not the guy to be here when the rebuild/retool does start

Yeah. On the losing the room part, I'm not blaming Lavi. The players all can decide to just not give a shit together, and the coach can do nothing about it. If anything, he has placated those guys as much as he can.

Lavy might have been a difference maker for us in 13-14, 14-15, or 21-22. He may have put us over the hump with those teams. I think last year was a fluke considering how many come from behind victories we had.

You are not going to see an influx of youth playing pivotal roles with Laviolette. It's not his thing nor is it Drury's. You'll see your Reilly Smith's, Blake Wheeler's, etc.

If you want a retool with a youth movement, you can't keep Lavy. Simple as that. Lavy isn't trying to retool. He's coached long enough to where its a cup or bust every year. Look at how the Caps have done a 180 and allowed the kids to play key roles. Now they are young and hungry.

In the Drury/Lavy world, any problem can be solved by acquiring vets for picks. And Lavy can thus deploy those trusted vets.

The one counter argument to this is that he did place Laf in a position to succeed last year. And for the most part Laf has succeeded (recent play notwithstanding).

But I agree Lavi's time is up.
 
I really don't get what many are saying here . Lavi hasn't lost the room . Drury has ! His handling of Trouba and Kreider and rumors of shopping Kakko as well are the obvious cause of our current woes. Drury has to go . It wasn't the last coach and it isn't this one. BUT JUST FOR FUN lets say that it is. So 2 different coaches that DRURY HIRED are the problem all in a span of less than 4 year ??? Drury can't determine and hire a good coach. FIRE DRURY !

Lavy hasn't lost the room because there is zero acccountability between him and the core that makes up the leadership in that room. It always seems to be Kakko's fault, or Zac Jones fault.

Maybe keep Peca and give him a chance, but Lavy and every other assistant has to go.

This isn't an endorsement for the core, it's a statement that this is over.

Drury also needs to come clean and actually speak to the media. Press conference style, not some private phone bullshit that they do.

This team was broken by Florida. They knew deep down they had no chance by Game 4, maybe even before then.

The best thing you can say about Lavi is that he doesn't have the answers. He's making more changes than Gallant in his final year, but his changes only seem to make the team worse. The only players having as good or better seasons than last year are Cuylle and Kakko (shocking, when Bonino/Wennberg aren't their center), and now you can scratch Kakko from that list.

It's time to move on.

Well said. Need a new teaching staff. New skill coach. Turn over the roster. None of what they're doing now is remotely helping to be competitive.

You realize they can both be to blame, right?

It's Lavi's job to get these guys ready to play. If they are pouting about the things Drury has done, it's Lavi's job to snap them out of it and get them focused, but he hasn't done that. This doesn't look like a team that has responded to anything he is saying.

There's plenty of blame to go around, from Drury to Lavi and on down to the players. No one is innocent in this. We win as a team and we lose as a team, and right now, we're losing. A lot.

He is a gutless coach for allowing the vets to run this team to the ground without repercussions. I've lost respect for this fool. Kakko was right. Kakko sucks....but not as bad as 4-5 other guys. F U Mika. Just F U.

Wondering if we let muse or peca be “interim head coach” if they’ll just run the guys who give a shit since they won’t be maneuvering to keep the job necessarily
