People who think Nathan Mackinnon is the best player in the world, can we all just be kind of agree that… he’s not?

It’s mainly insecure oil and lightning fans trying to force a narrative. I think any reasonable hockey fan knows that any of the top players are capable of “being the best in the league” on any given night.

Absolutely, completely, and utterly incorrect . He regularly forces so many passes that it has Avs fans raging a lot of nights.

This tournament has brought out so many fans that talk in absolutes when they clearly do not know. MacKinnon selfish, doesn’t force plays, can’t use his line mates….. lol.

Players like Mackinnon , Kucherov, McDavid who are constantly setting guys up .....tend to also have the most passes blocked.
Like OV has most shots taken......and most shots missed net.
You're not going to have a guy like Max Domi lead in giveaways ......he doesn't have the puck enough.

Mackinnon won Hart, Rocket, Art Ross last season. Anyone who rips him is doing it from pure envy.

and Marner lead all except forwards ( ice time against the States.
Cooper is good but even he makes some questionable decisions. I guess all coaches do from time to time. Marner has been lousey.

For me, MacKinnon is right up there with McDavid. I’d still take McDavid, but the only other forward that comes close to MacKinnon’s production, clutchness, IQ, skill and pedigree is Kucherov.

Is he the conseus best player in the world? No.

Is he the best player in half-of-the game nights in a NHL calendar year? Probably.

I watch every minute of 82 Oilers games every year.

Until I watch every minute of 82 Avs and Lightning games as well, I can never offer a definitive answer. And neither can anyone else unless they've watched them all.

IMO however McDavid is in a class by himself. I feel I can be unbiased. MacKinnon used to be in a handful of second tier superstars to me however I must admit his stock has risen to clear cut #2 lately.

All I know is I wouldn't want to be facing a 3 on 2 with McD MacK and Kuch flying in on me

Nobody cares about what happened 3 years ago. Tom Brady was playing football 3 years ago, does that make him the best QB this year too?

He has 16 EV goals this year. That is WORSE than Jordan Kyrou who is a terrible hockey player. He is suppose to be a 40-50 goal scorer but won't come close this year because his PP numbers are down. What makes that stat even sadder is Colorado is #3 in the league for PPO so, as usual and as I stated, they have had PLENTY of time to pad those stats on PPs.

I hope we get to see Hughes. I am pretty sure we will and I can't wait.

To me Makar is easily the best player on the planet. He impacts the game all over the ice like no one else can. He dominated the Finland game even though he didn't get any points. He makes the whole team better. Hughes is close behind. Forwards can be shut down.
