Pinto anchors the shutdown line. Exceptionally smart player.

In this silly Tkachuk leaving Ottawa scenario think abt what Ottawa needs:

The very very very last thing Ottawa needs is a centre. We have a legit high end #1, a legit #2 centre, a 3rd line C who we all expect/believe is a a legit #2 in Pinto - then still have Greig and Ostapchuck.

Stutzle
Norris
Pinto
Grieg
Ostapchuk

If anything they could trade centre depth to improve the wing, which is what they actually need - and would only be made much worse by trading Brady.
That said finding a top 6 winger in UFA is likely the easiest position to fill (relative to C and D)

Our D is set, and goaltending is set.
So for a variety of reasons trading Tkachuk would absolutely the dumbest possible move the Sens would be capable of making.
I didn’t post the trade, I said it didn’t make sense. Especially now. Just asked how Pinto’s game was as I didn’t know he compared at all to Lundell. Keep him, either stay and do well, or he’ll move on once his deal is up. No one likes to talk about that, I sure af don’t when it comes to my guys, but they could all walk eventually as well.

Pinto doesn't compare to Lundell. One is a third line C on a championship team only because of the log jam at C, the other is a third line center on a team that hasn't made the playoffs forever. And is injured a ton.

Come on, nobody would trade Lundell for Pinto.

Lundell is better than Pinto for sure, not disputing, but I still think you're underselling Pinto. Pinto is a low-end 2C or a high end 3C. Lundell should be an average 2C on most teams. Also even though Lundell is an upgrade on Pinto, the Sens strength is their C and have a massive winger weakness, so yeah.

On what basis? He produces like a top six guy when he gets a chance. Also 17 points in 24 games last year in the playoffs. Pinto has nothing to compare.

Which is why I said he's an average 2C on most teams, that is clearly top 6. Pinto is a fringe low-end 2C due to strong defensive play and taking hard matchups, but not particularly offensively productive. Neither is reaching 1C territory yet, sorry.

No need to be sorry, I don't think Lundell is a 1C on a championship team. But he's a 2C on any team. And has 54 games of playoff experience at 23. Played on the first PK unit immediately when he came to the league under coach Q, which is hard to do.

That's horrible for Florida.
Reinhart may be 5 years older but he's still producing better than Brady and will be cheaper than Brady for the duration of his contract.
Lundell .64 pts/game compared to Tkachuks .77 this year is eye opening when you consider Tkachuk gets 2+ more mins on the PP than Lundell.

Lundells points per 60 is 2.3 while Tkachucks is 2.5
Lundell is trending up for career highs this year and Brady is trending down after his 80+ point year.

For a winger, even as good as Brady is, I'd hope Zito wouldn't when wingers is one of our biggest strengths already.
If Zito was to trade four 1sts, it better be for a top pair RD.
A top pair young RD equivalent to Brady as a player with the same kind of contract would cost more than 4 super late 1sts though.

One side...

"We want said player because of..."

“But we totally don't want to accept the fact that said player, would cost a lot and we want to pretend it'll cost nothing or should cost less because..."

giphy.gif

And the team that has said player is all...

*back and forth ensues with the same stuff, for pages*

The OP wasn’t started by a Panther fan, most of us have said we’d love to see them play together, but we don’t want to gut the roster of what it would take when it recently won a Cup. That’s hard to stomach.

Sens fans have for said no, as they should. I would if I had that ogre on my team.

Ok let's end this nonsense talk now, we all know where they belong, ready for it..............Boston, and big Walt should be named strength and conditioning coach. To make this happen we will get a package together with wiser men than I putting it together. I will say the only player not moved out Boston is Pasta. Throw ins , to make this happen, Jeremey and Charlie, and to prove I am dealing in good faith we will reluctantly, put Sweeney in the package..........that is all I got for now.

Hang on, gotta get some towels to clean up all the puke I just hurled while reading this lol.

Boston and Philly have the reps for these type of players, but Florida's been hated ever since we added Matthew due to the same rep.

I mean, as much as I don’t want to break this team up, a line of Brady-Benny-Chucky would be pretty amazing. Those 3 just wrecking the league, fights every period, a true Hanson brothers experience.

Edit: totally whiffed on appreciating the big Walt spotting your post. Well done lol.

"The world wants it" doesn't seem like a great argument from an Ottawa point of view. There's a time and place for the Sens to consider moving BT if he signals that he's not interested in a new long-term contract, but it's not with three more years to go on his current deal. Summer 2027, maybe.

Until then, they'll work on convincing him to consider re-upping (and secure that eighth year) when he's a year away from UFA.
