The quality of the players on the roster or their bad contracts is irrelevant, so long as the Pens get paid enough to do it.
Trying to win games isn't gonna be part of the equation for a long time.

My thought was trade EK to another team. Take on Seth Jones from Chicago for a little something.

Be a net positive in Assets but a net negative in actual play.

That'd be great. But there needs to be enough cap space after retaining Karlsson at 50%.
Trading Rakell while taking no cap back would work.

I don't care about EK. I mean I do but he can go... what the point of having him here? So trade him but lets start there and with anything else not bolted down currently on the team before we start jumping at every toxic contract that exists for the sake of some 15 percenter pick. Rebuilds can be pooched and I assume none of you want to become Buffalo or former Arizona. I have no interest in being the league's dumping ground and dipping a toe in that pool this past year doesn't look like it's gonna pay any dividends so I am not nor will I ever be sold on that idea.

It's all a moot point as long as Sully is still here. Young guys (regardless of potential) will rot in WBS until they get called up for one game, played 2:30 with Matt Nieto and Noel Acciari, and then banished when they don't produce like McDavid.
