Hey, I hate to bitch, but Accari and Nieto played twice the minutes of DOC and Beauvillier only played 5 minutes.
Sully has to be Sully. Does he sit Beauvillier against the Devils, and if so Hayes or pool party back in the lineup? I'm going with this dude.

This team lives and dies off L1. The other 3 lines desperately need a shakeup
Start with getting Lizotte some wingers on the 4th line.

That was the kind of game they didn't win last year. Got outplayed, it was kind of ugly, but the big boys came through. Sid is on fire right now. That had to have been one of NSH's better games this year and they still lost.

Also, credit to Jarry. He made some good saves. Throughout this whole run the numbers don't look good but he has come up with some timely saves, which a lot of you tell me is rare. ;)

Lauzon shoving Lizotte to the ice after the whistle is the crap that needs to go in hockey. In the NBA, NFL, or MLB, that's an ejection. I think it's the kind of crap that gives hockey it's reputation among non-fans. In the NHL I guess it's just cool to attempt to injure another player after the whistle. No wonder Sullivan was pissed off.

But as for Sully, I've never seen a coach have a problem on his team and leave it unaddressed for so long. All season they have been getting burned by sending two forwards below the goal line, creating odd man rushes as soon as they get bypassed. Tonight it happened again on Skjei's goal. Though I don't know why Letang was that far up which exacerbated the problem.

Apart from EK's dumb holding the stick call, another good game. Great vision on Sid's goal, great shot for the goal, great up pass to Sid for the first goal. He's just playing more confidently. And I like that he got in Lauzon's face for his BS. I'm sure nobody on the team expected that.

It was funny - I watched NSH's broadcast when Lizotte took that penalty and the analyst immediately called it a cheap shot. When he looked at the replay he said it wasn't so bad and admitted he actually hadn't seen it live. Soundbite commentators are the worst. NSH seems like they have a garbage broadcast compared to Pittsburgh's.

PIT record with:

Lizotte 11-4-3
Tomasino 7-2-1
Pickering 7-4-2
Nieto 8-3-2

These guys have helped turned it around with their hustle IMO.

The thing about Pickering is that I don't notice him much, which is a good thing as a rookie D. He rarely makes mistakes, and has done a decent job with Letang these past few games - and let's be real - Kris, like Erik ain't always the easiest to play with. I didn't realize he was only 20, too. I think they found themselves a good player for many years to come.

He reminds me so much of prime Dumo and that is a very high compliment.

They were left for dead and fooled us all. I cannot believe this is largely the same team from a month ago.

And 3 NHL D lol. Considering the state of their roster, being in the playoff race is commendable.

Graves is overpaid as hell but I think he's actually been better this year. Pettersson's injury is surely why they got Joseph back, who I think got better throughout last season. I don't think Dubas wants to be running out Graves with Shea or St. Ivany every game. When Pets is iced the top 4 is good. And very few teams have really good 3rd pairs.

He took a penalty in the first, which just isn't the right way to play. So he had to sit and watch the rest of the game in shame.

To be fair, it was a pointless cross-check 7 seconds after the tying goal. Any coach would be mad about that.

I'm thinking of having that tattooed on my face, dearest.

Finding ways to win close games, especially ones that they could easily lose, is huge. I'm starting to love this season. Bring up more youth, tho.

The mistakes he’s making are mostly because he’s misjudging opposing players and what they can do. He’s seeing most of these guys for the first time in his career. It’s pretty impressive considering his age. He has some solid fundamentals and size that can’t be taught. We might have got a steal with that pick.

LOL - in yet another example of why plus-minus is useless ... on Rakell's goal EK got the plus instead of Pickering because he stepped on the ice literally a second before the goal was scored. EK finally gets one of those. He has had assists where he didn't get credit for the plus because his replacement had just come over ... it's happened like 10+ times since 22-23.

Your guy has been really good last few games, obligatory 2-3 wtf moments, but he is defending OK and finally skating out with the puck. Part of L1 succcws he has been behind them most of the time, I realized he is the best when he is in motion that’s why he sucjs on PP, he gets lost when standing in one place, hope he continues this kind of play

It’s called Geno’s special, last 5-6 years, half of his minuses have been on the change he just steps in

I’m ready for a DOC trade. Those are pathetic results for a guy who never gets put in the Nieto and Acciari hole
Agreed. I know Bemstrom sucked last year but he should have earned a call-up this year already. Over P/PG down there.
Broz, Koivunen, Katchouk and Ponomarev also viable options.

It really wouldn't take much to outplay DOC at this point.

Katchouk would need an NHL contract, as he's AHL-only right now.
I do wonder what Koivunen would do up here. I don't think he's actually ready yet, but I wonder what his skating would look like against actual NHLers.
